Manor Is Now Non-Smoking?

What a strange experience yesterday as I was told the Manor is now non-smoking. For those of us in the Waterloo region, we have been dealing with the non-smoking issue for years, but for Guelph this is news to me. The good news is my laundry costs will go down because I won't have to wash them twice to get the smell out. The bad news is some of my favorite dancers are smokers. (I know... then stay away from dancers that smoke!) This could be a tough transition for them having to go outside for a puff!

Also...why yesterday of all days? (January 19) Has Guelph been non-smoking all this time, but the Manor hasn't been enforcing the bylaw? Maybe the municipality decided to make a visit and threatened a fine. Any Terbites living in Guelph that would like to share some info?

Calloway:

Guelph has had a non smoking bylaw for bars and restaurants for over a year. The Manor and any bar/restaurant in Guelph that has been ignoring the bylaw has been doing it illegally. I would venture to guess that they received a visit from the smoking Nazi's and thus the compliance.

First of all, to Calloway, stop complaining that the Manor was still smoking long after the by-law passed. If you didn't like doing your laundry twice, you shouln't have been going there. ALL the other strip-clubs in the tri-cities have been non-smoking for a long time. You could've went anywhere else.
It sucks that the Men have to go out side to smoke, but the dancers (such as myself) have a warm designated area to smoke. It would waste alot of the DJ's time if the girls had to get dressed to go outside and have a smoke, and then change again when they come in. He would have hardly any girls available for stage.

Second of all, Guy, The Manor never received a visit from the Smoking "Nazi's". I was informed that some customer (who DOESN'T smoke) Went down to the police Station, and whined that there were people smoking there. Waa eh?

Geez I wonder whether you're a smoker Jer? I've been around smoking my entire personal and work life and don't care whether you smoke or not. Compared to Nikki's by Woodstock, the Manor is heaven. I would rather die from second hand smoke than give up the Flamingo Room! That was not my point and I would be the first in line to beat the crap out of the idiot who went to the police. My curiosity was simply... why on January 19th? Sounds like a pretty pathetic local municipal government if they wait all this time to enforce a two year old smoking bylaw.

As far as this "new" enforcement being a pain in the ass for everyone.... I agree and stated that earlier if you go back and read my comments properly. This sucks for dancers, staff and ultimately the customers. What's even more hypocritical is that I've been there when the police make their rare visits and they don't give a flying poop who is smoking.... customers, dancers or employees.

By the way, that was some pretty impressive detective work to figure out that a NON-SMOKER must have been the person reporting this to the local police. I just don't know how you figured that out. I would have thought a smoker would have reported it.... nice work Jer!

Calloway, it wasn't jer who posted those messages to you. I was just using his username (I'm his friend). I am a dancer at the Manor and I see how it has somewhat hurt the business so far. I wasn't trying to be rude to anyone on here, although when I go back and read my entries, it sounds like it. Sorry if you took it that way. I was merely just stating what I heard and trying to clear things up a bit.

No problem Jer.. or whoever you are. Thanks for clearing the air.

I know a number of bars that have built "enclosed" outside rooms (with heat in the winter) to help deal with this issue. The problem for the Manor is where? Maybe to the north side, but they would need to sacrifice some parking spots.

Second Hand Smoke

Apparently there isn't a single case in any medical journal of a life long male non smoker suffering from lung cancer due to second hand smoke.

Hey Shiftee.... if you flip to the next page in your medical journal.... are there any deaths that have been caused by experiences in the Flamingo Room?

Was it the Manor where they had backlit no smoking signs that would only come on when it was VERY IMPORTANT not to smoke? I thought that was cute. They didn't have any ashtrays either, but you were supposed to use beer bottles.

Guy,
This is Kelly, (usually) not jer. I am petite, long blond hair, usually wearing a VERY short school girl skirt, Long black or white socks, and a black or white top. Tonight I am wearing the black socks and a black shirt that says "Canadian girls kick ass". Hope to see you there. Mention the TERB if you see me. I might go in early, so I won't be there too late tonight. I am working all week. Try to catch me before 8-9pm. I should still be there.

Petite with a schoolgirl outfit? Now you caught my interest. What time do you usually start?
