Do you think this guy will post the same numbers as "Alex the Great"? I drafted him in my fantasy leauge. I really think he will hit at least 100(I Hope) point this year.

much bigger boy comparred to alex and sidney. I dont think he will make the every highlight reel like Alex. But he will be feeding Sidney most of his goals.

fant-fan is right.... though most larger players, forwards in particular, take a few years longer to develop. Think- Joe Thornton, Rick Nash, Eric Staal, etc...

on the other hand, I expect this to be a breakout year for Syd the Kid... he's 2 years younger than Ovechkin and only trailed him by 4 points. last season. Syd could easily score another 30+ points this season if the Penguins improve! In contrast, Ovechkin will probably score the same amount of points as last.

I think he will take about 3-4 years to develop into a powerhouse like Thorton. Thorton will put up crazy numbers this year with bell and Cheechoo.

Malkin is ready now. He's been ready for two years now. He'll have a breakout rookie season.

Hell, I hope Malkin gets 130 point this year. I drafted him ahead of alot 100 point players. But he is still to young. He played in the elite leauge in russia for the past years, but it aint the NHL. I love him but I think its gonna take some time, thats all I am saying. But I hope I am wrong.

Well, seeing as Thornton didn't even get to 130 last year, I doubt Malkin will come in the NHL in his rookie year and lead the league in scoring...it also depends on who he'll play with on the second line. Recchi? Leclair? Armstrong? I dont see this kid being able to be as versatile as Sidney and be able to excel no matter who his linemates are...I predict a point a game type season for Malkin. Being the second line centre, he won't get as much ice time as Crosby either...

Personally, I think that Malkin will outshine Sid. But not "ALEX THE GREAT". I am 100% Canadian but I love watching those russians/checks. Watching Alex is like watching a young Jagr. He makes it look so easy.

Let's not forget, Joe Thornton was 26th in league scoring before his trade to San Jose.

Had he played the full season in SJ, he'd average out to 167 pts.

I was in a pool last year and a pooly with very little hockey knowledge drafted Crosby and Ovechkin...the chump won the pool. Most fantasy hockey analyst advise you to stay away from rookies...what do they know. I think Malkin is a solid top 25 pick. Just my 2 cents. Btw I finished 12 out of 15 in my pool...

hammer. you'd be 100% right about Malkin. He outperformed Ovechkin at the Olympics when comparing performance to ice time... he actually Outperformed alot of the entire Russian team with 11 open ice hits and 31PMs and 6pts in 7 games! he iced some of the lowest minutes during that tourney and still came out at almost 1 point per game....that's something to be said for a player who hasn't tasted NHL hockey, yet.

Malkin has 'chicken legs' really skinny from what i watched of rookie camp today.

Staal is no where close to making the squad... he was getting pushed around waaay too much. Though he did score 2 goals.

everyone in attendance got asked to leave at noon. going back tomorrow at 8am.
