Major Power Outage-New England/Clevland and Hogtown Incl.

ATC center in New England is running on Diesel backup generators. All ops otherwise normal. This reminds me of one time coming back from Maui. Landed at SFO. Had to use vertical ladder in order to get off a DC-10. No power to operate jetways.

New York is totally hosed. Subways down. Cell system partially affected. People wandering the streets looking confused..LOL.
Understand also that Ottawa, Toronto, and Syracuse were hit. Detroit is on that list as well as Hartford, Conn.
Something happenned up there in ONTARIO that caused the grid to shut down.
Fire in Hamilton at the Burlington Skyway damaged power lines.
Ottawa totally without power. First hand reports from Peter Jennings on vacation in Ottawa area.

You're right it will probably be quiet in Toronto for a while. I presume this server must be either in an area with power on running on Aux power. It is in Toronto.

Phone lines will work for a while. They are on a back up generators as well. However, they won't run forever, and if the power outage goes on for some time, the phone lines will go down too. You may want to make your calls and plans now, while you can. Just a thought.

Nothing to worry about. We have planned for a long time to send the Girl Scout troop from Middlebury, Tennessee, as the main assault force into Canada. We felt it necessary to match the perceived threat with an equivalent force. As reinforcements, we have the Ladies Auxialliary from Birmingham on standby in case we run into any rough resistance.

My whole family is in Detroit. My sister is trapped in a 36 story building...I can't reach my other sister or my brother...my grandma is alone in the house (managed to get her on the phone, but phones are sketchy right now) and she said it's almost 90 degrees in her house. My mom and dad were on the freeway downtown and no one can reach them. My dad is a quadreplegic and they were on their way home from physical therapy. He can't sit in the car for too long, so I'm worried. I'm freaking out actually...When the sun goes down in Detroit the city is going to burn..always does in situations like this.

In 1812.....we turned back US forces..and by gumpshun we can do it again!!!........things have not changed that much.....where there is a will there is a way......we have a formidable navy....strong ground forces.....and a prime minister that has been in power four times longer then your president.......and that makes him four times more wily..........and our guy won't let go until the very end......trust me on this..he really won't go..like at all....and he's been asked quite a bit......I'm hearing it starting already in the news......US saying it started in Ottawa.....and we saying it started in NEW YORK.........I smell an invasion..
