Hey Everyone,

I'm looking to buy a Mah Jong set and I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me find what I'm looking for :)

I'm looking for a full 144 tile Chinese set with no Western Numerals written on the tiles. I want the set all in Chinese* and in Chinese* only!
I like the larger tiles, at least 3/4 inch but 1" plus thick is better (bc I love to slam them down HARD as I play- lol)

The tiles I learned on were green backed, and I'd like to stick with that if at all possible; but I'm flexible on color as long as they are THICK and Sturdy!

Resin or Ivory, matters not.
No need for betting sticks or case.
Looking for new or used as long as they are in good condition (no stains, separation between front or back, and minimal discoloration and ware on the characters paint colors, etc).

If anyone is looking to sell, or has access to China Town and can have a peek n see whats out there for me, I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

Thanks!

Thanks for all your great suggestions Guys :)

I've been looking on eBay but in many cases, the freight is as much (or more) then the set, so I would really prefer to find something local, if possible...
Looks like I'm gonna have to take a tour out to Toronto :)

I play the Hong Kong style mah jong

@Born2Star
I agree. Working with the tiles, and stacking them, is one of the parts of the game I miss the most :)

@FailsW0rth
Even though I'd not buy it, I'm curious about the table you mentioned... How does it work?

Thanks again for you help with this!

In Market Village next to the Pacific Mall or the small Chinese mall on Steels Ave E just one block west of Warden Ave they all sell the Mah Jong set and the table as well.

For downtown Chinatown, you can try Sun Wa Bookstore at 280 Spadina (Dragon City Mall), call (416) 977-3457 them first.

Hi, I sent you couple of emails to your hotmail account as requested (few days ago, please reply there)

I have three sets kicking around, two has the minimum thickness you are looking for.

The 144 tiles set Chinese mahjong is dark green backing. The tiles are1"wide, 1&5/16" long and 3/4" thick.

Another set is light green backing, my grandma played on it, but she tossed away the 4 flower and 4 season tiles. So it is only 136 tiles. but they are bigger measured at 1&1/16" wide, 1&7/16" long and 7/8"thick.

Let me know if any of them would suit you
