Wyatt, off-topic but what do you think of the way the "Freedum Caucas" is pushing to shut down the government in 8 days?

It's the end of the Republic. The government won't function. The economy will blow up. School lunches won't get out to kids.

Or we will knock down deficits running hot at $2 trillion in a period of relatively high inflation one or two hundred billion, the Fed can breathe a bit easier and life will go on.

Having said all that, it's great for cable news ratings. Can't wait for "The Maddow Than Hell" hour.

It's obvious I was contrasting two current events about two Congressmen for effect. The indictment was sitting out there all day without discussion. And yet this thread has been going on for over a week.

I'm showing the absurdity in what partisan TERB people think about. So since you seem to feign that you don't see the point, the Boebert story is no longer news and it wasn't really even big news when the story broke. I thought this thread was funny and amusing several days ago.

Here's an exercise. Pretend that neither has any party affiliation. Would we still be discussing Boebert?

Now let's try another one. Pretend they have no party affiliation, Menendez was groping his wife at the theater and Boebert was indicted. I'm guessing the Menendez groping discussion would already be over for several days. I can't be sure that's the case, but that might suggest a bit of sexism of some members as progressive as they might like to believe.

Menendez is a semi obscure sleazebag. Boebert is a high profile shit disturber and provocateur. So Menendez flies largely under the radar while Bobo's endless trashiness is the subject of derision and comment.

Changing the facts around and re writing their characters and backgrounds is irrelevant because Boebert - like Marge - has created her own notoriety. She's not a creation of the "deep state" or the "fake news media". Boebert is out there every day doing dumbass shit to provoke attention. Menendez just quietly grifted.

So Bobo gets more attention. Bobo WANTS attention. Bobo's entire career is based on making a mouthy ass of herself. Menendez wanted no attention at all. So he gets less attention. People are simply unfamiliar with his story.

So your attempt to claim that this is all misplaced focus by the hoi polloi rings hollow.

Let me add a footnote. The Dem response to Menendez being caught frauding and scamming is to urge his retirement. Pretty universally.

What happened with notorious scammer Paxton in Texas. What did the GOP do, Earp?.... Cut Paxton loose and urge him to resign?.....

These are all very subjective and biased opinions. Menendez is a U.S. Senator. He was Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. That's a pretty big assignment knowing the Senate's influence on Foreign Relations. Boebert represents a House district and despite your efforts to prop her up as a leader of the Republicans she has very limited appeal.

Menendez barely got off six years ago for a similar crime because of a hung jury. He was severely admonished by the Senate. Is it just me, but does "severely admonished" sound like an oxymoron? The Democrats didn't ask him to resign then........they waited until it got unbearable now.

Like far too many corrupt politicians on both sides, the party doesn't clean their own laundry. The Fed have to take them down. Your Paxton point is good. Unfortunately, the Texas Republicans punted to the Feds. However, everyone knew Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan was deeply corrupt for decades.......a crony of the Daley machine. His corruption ran far deeper and far longer than Paxton's. Who is taking Madigan down? The Feds.

I'm sorry. I think discussing Boebert's misbehavior for over a week is just plain silly. It was very interesting last week. I am very plugged into U.S. political news. I actually don't hear much about what she is doing most of the time if weren't for TERB liberals. And honestly, I didn't bring up Menendez to throw a Democrat in anyone's face. I just thought the contrast here was worth noting.

I started posting about Menendez in Darts's thread because it appears to be an interesting grift involving the Egyptian state.

No one is propping Bobo up. As long as dumdum Bobo runs with GymJo, Marge and Gaetz and a couple of others, they form an influential faction in the House GOP, especially given their close links to Trump, who owns the GOP rank and file.

Most political parties would sideline Bobo and people would pay her little heed. The GOP is a cretinocracy manipulated by Trump.

The Fed is unhappy with its current level. Inflation has been stubbornly slow to respond to Fed efforts to slow the economy and bring it down. Higher Federal spending is a factor.

I don't know about Canada, but everything I eat, pick-up off the shelf or order out seems to be much higher in price and was still going higher until very recently. It's strange that you start acting like your parents. You can afford something and you won't buy it because of a price increase.

It might all work out fine. Right now, the housing market seems to be cooling off, but that brings on different issues.
