Here's the thing.... as parents, we all make mistakes. We do. I know my kids have openned doors and gotten outside as toddlers, or I've made a quick trip into the corner store with jr in the car.... all avoidable mistakes.

IF I had any inclincling that something terrible was going to happen my children, I obviously would risk life and limb to keep them safe. I think most responsible parents would....

Rather than focusing on the monumental mistake these parents made, we should be focusing on the real problem. The fact the there are people out there who actually think it's OK to abduct and molest children is sickening. The fact that there are as many children being exploited in today's world as there are is frightening. All I ask is that we stay focused and point the anger in the right direction.... at sick pedophiles.
In this case, the real problem is parents who don't act responsibly. If they had, this never would have happened.

I can't do links ( techno impaired) but on the Toronto Police service website they have a news release on this, tied in with Crime Stoppers.

Appeal to the immigrant pop, mainly Portugese, in TO who may have heard something about this.

Guess every bit of info helps. Hope so.

Seems this couple were questioned about trying to extort money from the parents for information of their daughters whereabouts. Likely just a scam for money. Doesnt seem like they know anything about where the child is ....yet.

Hard to Believe

There is something just not right with the way this went down.

First of all, it just does not make sense that the parents would leave the kids unattended. They went all out on the vacation, why chintz on babysitting..

2nd, we have all made mistakes like running into the store for a minute leaving the kid locked in the car. I once had an emergency, could not find anyone, and left my son (7yrs old) sleeping for 10 mins... But it's crazy to leave your child for so long... It's not like they are druggies or alcoholics, etc.

3rd. The chances of the kidnapper "happening" to be at the right time and place. They take only one child, and nothing else??

4th. No ransom note so far that we know, no demands etc...

The only things that make sense are:
1. A hotel staff wanting a child sees an opportunity and takes the child.
2. The parents are doing something strange...

That would be every parent then..... as all of us have left a kid alone in the other room, or the car while we ran in the corner store or gas station... We do that because we know we could like do it 2 000 000 times and the kids would be safe each time.... This poor family wasn't so lucky.

I'm not saying they were smart..... but they didn't deserve this.

Thre is a difference between running into the store to pick up your dry cleaning and going for a 2 hour dinner. Get with it poker.

Looks that way ...OD'd the kid - more than likely by accident.

Panicked ....and now they are caught.

Sad thing is they duped so many people into believing the story - but lovemonkey is correct ...something smells in this story.

Nothing worse than parents who harm their own children.

If they are guilty fry 'em.

It sounds like the portugese police thinks they killed her by some mishap, and then cobered it up. BIG mistake.

I dont know why, but I almost feel that the police are just trying to end this. By accusing the parents maybe they think it will end sooner. They offered the mother 2 years in jail for a confession. That makes me lean further to wrongful accusations. I would hope that someone who murders their child would get a lot more than 2 years.

..big difference if you kill s.o. accidentially or intentially...."feelings" are not enough to comment on this case, what do you know about it, dear terb-fellow, lets say nothing, nothing, nothing, nor do the other self-called journalists do in this thread......the media tells you whatever they want to tell you and often - unfortunately - it is not the truth. So they might have accidentially killed their daughter or maybe they haven't ... what do we really know....?
