198 seats for the center-right/right coalition, 180 for the hard lefts.

Who here was comparing someone to Trump because he didn't want to appoint someone from the largest party.
Looks like he did. Coalitions count as parties and anyone who says otherwise is just a lying opportunist who would agree to it if it suited their purposes.
Not a majority, ND.
Lets check this again in 6 months.

French politics is beginning to look more Italian. Macron isn't really a centrist, he's a protectionist. He blocked the takeover of the Port of Marseilles by Overmarine Italia.

As set up by Charles de Gaulle, the President was the Secretary of State. Since then the President has accumulated excessive power, undermining the Prime Minister while controlling The National Assembly. Since Mitterand the Prime Minister's office has been a revolving door. With his latest actions, perfectly legal, Macron could bring about the end of de Gaulle's Fifth Republic.

Btw I'm still in a state of euphoria over Italian types farting in their general direction...in Paris no less.

Sounds like a reasonable assessment.
Still, Macron made a choice that the public will remember, he refused to work with the left wing and instead chose the extreme right.
Agreed.
But Macron has been unpopular for a while.
He also is term limited and not running for re-election, so he doesn't have to care.
