Ok, I just needed to get this rage out today!
One week ago I bought some golf shirts, sweaters at a large golf shop. This weekend the same items are on sale 20% and more!
I asked the sales girl why they didn't say they were going on sale! She said she didn't know!
Today I went to a well know men's shop to pick up my Cerruti suit and was told that some of the suites will be coming on sale next week, so please come back, not the one I bought, but still. wtf.
I don't mind paying top dollar, but I hate paying full price then find out I got robbed!!
It this normal in Canada to have prices come down like this, I know tha sales people don't know, but!!

What are you gonna do?

If you wait, everything goes down eventually.
So you either by it now at a higher price or you wait and try to get a deal. Just depends on how badly you want it.

You can go back and ask for a price adjustment. Some store have the policy that if an item goes on sale within x amount of time from purchase they will give you back the difference in money or store credit.

Were you happy with the original price you paid before the sale? If so then the sale price would've just been a nice bonus. If you're truly satisified with your purchase then the sale wouldn't have made a difference to you. But since you aren't happy then you probably shouldn't have made the purchase to begin with.

That said, just go back to the store and ask if they'll give you back the sale price difference if it really was only a week later.

I worked in retail for nearly a decade, and this stuff happened all the time. Even the store managers, much less the staff, were kept in the dark about the timing of sales and promos and stuff.

Try this: Just take back the receipt - not the clothes themselves, just the receipt - and ask for a refund on the difference. What we used to do when this happened was to make a return for the old price and then re-sell the product for the new price.

You've got nothing to lose by trying. And if you can't get satisfaction from the store, take it up with the next level of management. Retail is way too competitive to be jerking around customers.

Thanks guys, went back to the golf shop and talked to the manager, he gave me my 20% off my purchase.
I have always done my purchases in Japan and if you have ever shoped in Japan it is so easy, so buying in Canada is somewhat new for me and I'm learning something new all the time.
I tell you it took some courage to go and ask for my discount, something new and I'm somewhat of a chicken!!
Thanks

Glad to hear it worked out. But in general you may as well wait for sales particularly on clothes. At work we do promotional items - sweatshirts, golf shirts etc with our company logo on it. Here are a couple of examples:

Name brand golf shirt (Adidas, Ashworth, Nike)
Cost in a golf store (pro shop) - around $100
Cost in a golf store (Nevada Bobs, Golf Town) - around $90
Cost to my company with a min order of 200 shirts (includes sewing our logo) - $35

Swiss Army luggage
Cost at The Bay - $250
Cost to my company - $85
Cost to my company for the bag without the Swiss Army logo - $42.50

Roots duffle bag
Cost at Roots store - $90
Cost to my company - $38
Cost to my company for bag without Roots logo - $22

Keep in mind that even at the lowest price, our supplier is making profit and the person our supplier gets stuff from (the distributer) is also making money. So when you see something you like in a store, it's best to keep your eye on it and buy it when it's on sale. There's generally a fair profit margin in the price.

Note - to be fair to retailers, they have to pay a lot for store rent, taxes on the store, labour costs, displays, advertising etc. This generally accounts for the large markups over the actual cost of the item. Companies like the one I work for however don't have to worry about stuff like that which is why we get it cheaper.
