At the end of the day is Calories in vs Calories out and if you follow a balanced diet of Protein, Veg and Fruits with exercise you're golden. Stay in a calorie defiect to lose weight, be in a calorie surplus if you want to gain weight. It's not rocket science it's just science.

Lol....in the old days of dieting, u would hv been entirely correct, but with the keto diet or paleo, calories in and out mean absolutely nothing whatsoever! I still remember having dinner with my folks about a month into keto and I went back for a second helping of lamb and my dad's words were no way is this going to work, u're eating far too many calories to lose weight! 3 months later, he was telling his friends about the diet and the amazing weight loss I was experiencing and his words were, I cant explain it at all, but it works! Counting calories r old school and yes effective as a weight loss method, but aren't as easily sustainable as keto and/or low carb diets are, nor anywhere near as enjoyable if u enjoy eating meat

There is so much lies and bullshit around various diets.

If you can't lose weight because of insulin the twinkie diet would work.
People lose weight on high carb low fat diets and everything in between.

https://www.diabetesdaily.com/blog/oh-dear-the-twinkie-diet-actually-works-268743/

Duration: 10 weeks
Food consumed: Every 3 hours, Haub ate one Twinkie. He also consumed Doritos, a variety of sugary cereals, Oreos, and other snacks from Hostess and Little Debbie such as Nutty Bars, Cupcakes, etc.

“He also took a multivitamin pill and drank a protein shake daily. And he ate vegetables, typically a can of green beans or three to four celery stalks,” explains the article.

Haubs goal, to prove that calories count, was achieved: he lost 27 pounds in two months by eating only 1,800 calories per day, which is about 800 calories less than a man of his pre-dieting size would need in order to maintain his previous weight.

His body weight in pounds went from 207 down to 174.
His body mass index went from 28.8 (overweight) down to 24.9 (normal).
His LDL (bad) cholesterol dropped by 20 percent
His HDL (good) cholesterol increased by 20 percent
His triglycerides (a form of body fat) dropped by 39 percent
His body fat dropped from 33.4 to 24.9 percent

It's calories in, calories out and weight loss overpowers anything else.

Both low carb and intermittent fasting work only by making adherence to calorie restriction easier. Oh BTW Jason Fung lies.

However a low carb diet means avoiding foods with known health benefits. I mean if it's the only way you can lose weight, then do it, but it isn't the healthiest diet.

Haven't had a chance to read all the replies in this thread so not sure if this has been brought up, but, I do know that low-carb no sugar diets work with lots and lots of water. Water is key. You can eat all the meat and vegetables and cheese you want, no bread, no rice, no potatoes no pasta! NO MILK for your coffee because it has sugar, use cream. You can eat zucchini noodles with sauce, it's actually amazing.

BUT

You must take protein supplement otherwise you will lose muscle mass. Buddy of mine lost 40 lbs on this diet and kept his muscle. Went from 240 down to 200

You might get constipated with the cheese so I would recommend all natural senocot Fibre. Take it at night and by the morning, well, you can figure it out lol

If you're on a KETO diet and go into a surplus of calories you will gain weight. Eating the second lambchop is not a big deal if you are within your calorie maintenance. Intermittent fasting also works great but it's because it's the easiest way to eat less and if you gorge during your eating window and take in 5000 calories of KETO allowed food over a week, every day and burn say 3000 you will gain weight.

Yes because your body's preferred fuel are carbs, easy to access. Its harder now because you burning fat. I don't find keto sustainable for a long time and once you add carbs back, you start gaining again. I prefer a med diet ..
