Sheesh, 44 posts and no one caught on to Fang's "locke is the key" comment?

I have to ask: if Locke is the key, who the hell is the lock then? If locke is also the lock, and he's the key, they're toast if they lose the Key AND the lock.....

To hijack this thread back . . .

. . . does anyone know when the show is back to original episodes? I've missed a few weeks and now they seem to be recycling again.

Also last original episode, which I missed, had something about the fat guy (is it Hurley??) being a lottery winner or something. Can anyone fill me in on that??

Yes, I guess I'm addicted to this show but it beats the crap out of some of that reality $##&** that's on the air!!

Thanks.

If you want to be banned around here it's gonna take a lot more than what you've done so far. Why don't you start on a course of questioning Sheik about why he likes water blasted up his ass and see how fast you last then?

Oh thank God. I thought I was going out of my mind when I came up with that theory.

Warning: It Will Take Less Time To Watch This Episode Than To Read My Summary...

Lost is back with new episodes starting next Wednesday, March 30th. With a title like 'Deus Ex Machina', I'm guessing that we're either going to discover what's behind that buried hatch, or some of the castaways are gonna try to find the radio tower mentioned in the last new episode. But I'm getting ahead of myself...

It was indeed revealed that Hurley (whose given name is actually Hugo Reyes, if memory serves) was a lottery winner...and what a win it was! At the end of the episode, he reveals to Charlie that he is worth $150 million bucks. Under any other circumstances, that would be quite a windfall, but this is Lost, so you know weird crap will abound. And it does...
Not long after winning his dough, a number of tragedies befall Hurley: his grandfather dies, the house he buys his mom burns down, his brother's wife leaves him for another woman, and so on. At first, Hurley thinks that the money is cursed, but, eventually, he comes to realize that it's the numbers that he used to win that are actually the cause of all this bad luck.
So, he pays a visit to the man who provided him with the numbers: a resident of a psychiatric facility where either Hurley used to work or was once a patient (I couldn't figure out which).
Anyway, the whack-job in the hospital, who's been repeating that same combination of numbers for years, points Hurley in the direction of an old army buddy who might have some answers and who lives in--you guessed it--Australia.

Hurley arrives in Oz several years too late, the man's widow informs him. Convinced that the numbers were cursed and were causing everyone around him to suffer fatal or debilitating accidents, the man took his own life. According to his wife, the man, along with the loon back in L.A., had been stationed at an army listening post when he'd heard the numbers being broadcast. Beyond that, there were no clues as to their origins or significance.
Facing a dead-end, Hurley decides to head for home...aboard the ill-fated flight that leaves him stranded on the island with the other castaways. Still, even on the island, he can't escape the influence of those damned numbers...
Amidst the papers that Sayeed recovered from Rousseau, one of several other residents of Mystery Island, Hurley discovers his winning lottery numbers scrawled over and over and over again. A faint glimmer of hope...!
Hurley swipes the pages and sets off into the jungle, with Charlie, Jack, and Sayeed, hot on his heels. The four have the sort of fun one has come to expect on this show--booby traps, land mines, rickety rope bridges--and eventually get separated.
Hurley manages to find Rousseau and demands to know the significance of the numbers. She tells him that she doesn't know. She proceeds to explain that, sixteen years earlier, she and her science team had picked up a broadcast while they were out on the ocean: it was a voice repeating those numbers, again and again. They located the source of the transmission, but became shipwrecked as a result. Rousseau and her team eventually found the radio tower that was broadcasting the numbers, but could never divine their meaning, nor could they find the person who'd made the recording in the first place. Eventually, after her entire team was wiped out, Rousseau changed the recording to transmit the distress signal that the survivors had picked up with their transceiver.
Sadly, there were still no answers for Hurley, but at least he'd managed to find one person who believed him when he said the numbers were cursed. Fade to black...
Oooops...almost forgot one detail. In the final shot of the episode, we see the buried hatch. The camera zooms in, and pans down to reveal that same combination of cursed numbers etched into the half-buried metal. Creepy...
Hope that helps, man. I, for one, will be glued to my set next Wednesday...

I haven't watched this show in a long time and I only saw a few episodes, but my guess was that it was all a dream (thus, the reason that the characters are all related).

Has anyone caught on to all of the connections between the characters (other than the fact that they were all on the same plane and stranded on the same island)?

- Boone and Sawyer ran into each other in the police station in Oz
- Sawyer and Jack's father drank at the same bar and talked to each other prior to Jack's father dying
- You see Hurley in the background on TV when Jin delivers his "message" to the minister
- Hurley owns a box factory, and Locke works at a box factory
- Jin was behind Jack in line at the airport

There are probably more, but those are the ones I've picked out from watching
You've got an eye for detail, UMustang; my compliments. I completely missed Hurley on the TV in Jin's spotlight episode, and the box factory connection went right by me.

Well, back in the olden days of yore, women got along fine without tampons...I believe they were called "monthly cloths" or something like that....

Cardinal Fang said:
All the women should be quite hairy by now.
I was wondering about that myself. Talk about NOT realistic...Same goes for the guys too. I mean, if I don't shave for a week I've got a good start on a full blown beard but some of the characters don't even have a 5 o'clock shadow....

Now I've met a few women in my time who don't shave (pits or legs) and they really only have a bit of a down happening. But Kate, heck, she should be furrier than a koala bear on steroids....
