I am looking for President Choice horse radish mayonnaise. I have not seen any for 6 months anywhere. I like to make my special mayonnaise with 80% mayonnaise, 10% horse radish mayonnaise and 10% Dijon mustard. I have it all made up in the jar and just spread it on bread when I have cold cuts. Jewish horse radish sauce or Raifort sauce will do as well, I think it is all the same stuff.

one of the worst experiences of my life was trying to grate a root of horseradish to make my own...

govern yourself accordingly... you have been warned...

i love to put one or two tablespoons of horseradish into a jar or pickled beets... let it stand in your fridge for a week or so.. then open the jar to discover your new vice... it's very yummy (not as yummy as Iris, but close)

I'm just sayin'

Very hard to find Kosher products in Toronto besides maybe the Thornhill/Richmond hill area.

I think all the Kosher items at Honest Eds are past their due date:p
I am not Jewish, so the product does not have to be kosher. Is horse radish simular to regular radishes?

horseradish is more like ginger root... grating by hand i found tough, but in a blender or Magic bullet it would be easier...

horseradish makes an excellent cracker dip when combined with i pkg of cream cheese and one can of salmon (cleaned of all bones and skin) and a quick squeeze of lemon. Two or three teaspoons might suffice, but add to taste. this dip is excellent because you don't really taste any of the ingredients, but they sure blend well together to be yummy. (not as yummy as Iris, but close)

i'm just sayin'

The don't have the BlueMenu no salt added Kidney beans anymore either.

If anyone finds that, let me know. I need to stock pile for the chili.
Try using Black, Red and White beans instead of the common Kidney beans.

Same thing with the stewed tomatoes.

Use diced tomatoes instead.

And do not forget the Cilantro.

I get around.
Try the horseradish from this place at St. Lawrence Market.

http://www.mustardmaker.com/

It is so strong, and yummy!
Yes Kozlik's mustards are GREAT!
Also for sale Saturday mornings at the Brickworks farmers market.
The Amazing Maple is fantastic, it is both sweet and hot. And the Horseradish is so hot if you get too much in a bite you start to wonder if you're going to survive the experience.

That is why I cut it down with 80% mayonnaise. I mix up one jar at a time. Really good for cold cuts, try a table spoon on the side of a fresh fried speckled trout. It is also good with egg or salmon salad for sandwiches or in potato salad.

As an alternative try adding wasabi paste to mayonnaise.

I called the Presidents Choice toll free number, and they tell me that the PC horse radish mayonnaise has been discontinued for a year now. I guess my only choices now is to make my own with fresh grated horse radish, or buy some wasabi or prepared horse radish mustard. I think some people found the PC horse radish mayonnaise to be too powerful, If PC made a product with 10% horse radish mayonnaise, 10% Dijon mustard, and 80% regular mayonnaise it would sell quite well. Gaylon Weston, if you are a hobbyist and reading this, your public has spoken.

You are aware that other grocery stores sell horseradish, right? I mean.. Metro, Sobeys, hell even Food Basics. Are you really that hooked on the PC stuff that the ONLY alternative is to grate your own? Did you ask for their horseradish recipe when you called the hotline?

No, I was not aware that horse radish was available at Metro, Sobeys. I was not even aware until recently that horse radish was a root shape. I thought it was like a regular radish. No I did not ask for the horse radish recipe.
BTW - The horse radish sauce I make is great with smoked meat, pan fried speckled trout, and potato salad.

Well there ya go. You don't need to go grate some roots. You can buy it somewhere else.. and when you do, and you make your special mayonnaise, you can enjoy it with your smoked meat, pan fried speckled trout, potato salad, salmon crackers, shrimp gumbo, or whatever else you enjoy it on, my bestest good friend, Bubba.

I'm so glad I could help. So often you ask a question like this and get a smart ass answer.
