My cellphone has been very sporadic in its' performance since the blackout. My phone rings but there's no connection when I answer or I keep dialling but can't get it to ring at the other end. Other times it works fine. It's a Nokia and I'm on Rogers' AT&T. Anybody else with the same problem?

Same problem with me. My digital line keeps switching to analog.

I've had no problems whatsoever with my cel fone or landline communications during the blackout.

but then, I ran for 16hours on battery backup and hell, this disaster management stuff is something I rather enjoy doing.

aaah, if only humans were as reliable and trustworthy as machines... [wouldnt be great but it would be an improvement]

Had trouble connecting on Friday, especially if I was indoors but it's been fine since.

My cell was not getting signals

Eversince the blackout, my phone seem to act up alot. I have also noticed my battery dies much faster than before now... what's going on Telus?

With rolling blackouts/brownouts, and the top Energy users being asked to cut usage, several cell sites are down (rotating). When your phone is farther away from a cell site, it boosts its transmission power to compensate, running the battery down faster. Analogue usage is 5 to 10x less than full strength digital usage. "Consult User Manual for Details".

Specific to Rogers, if your phone is TDMA, you have analogue backup as part of the hardware. If your phone is one of the newer GSM models (and this applies to Fido as well) you have NO analogue backup, and go from "digital signal" to "no signal", and drop the call.
