how long has the line ups/wait been at the passport offices
now that the deadline has passed

what has been your experience at each specific location?

what is the total turnaround time from application to receiving the passport?

Mississauga has a 2 hour line up average to submit your passport documents and if everything is in order, you can probably expect it in 2 -3 weeks (4-6 weeks if you have to submit a special form if you couldn't find any professionals to sign that they have known you for more then 2 years.) If you need it sooner, you need to show your airline tickets when you submit your documents and I think there is an additional fee.

I went on last business day 2006 to the Scarbourough office. It was later in the day and I waited about 45 mins.

Always go late in the day (eg around 4 pm). (It is counter-intuitive, and it is far less crowded). Everyone gets processed so long as you are in before they close the doors at 4:30 pm.

I got there on Tuesday at 8:30 am (when they open) and it took an hour and a half.

I second Scarborough.

Approximatley 30 minutes wait about 3 weeks ago.

No big deal.

My passport soon to expired. No problem with U.S. Custom & Immigration @ Pearson.

You do pay extra for the express service. You don't need to show airline tickets.

My relatives got their's in 2 wks from mail-in.

wish that were to be true in Mississauga. They had a guard at the door that stopped everyone from going in @ 2:30pm because there were too many people already inside and not more people were to be permitted. The guard told everyone wanting to get in to come back another day and to make sure it was 2 hours prior to the end of the business day (4:30pm) to guarantee they will be let in.

I always found the Mississauga office to be busy, even before the new US passport rules.
The renewed my passport at the Brampton office in Sept., only waited about 20 minutesto get to the counter. My passport was issued within 3 days, and I had it in my hands via the mail in about a week and a half

Make sure you fill out the form on line, they had a separate line for people who did it on line and they got out a lot faster. My brother was in and out in 15mins at the brampton office.

This is where have family high on up in the Canadian military comes in handy. Ask my cousin to get me one...had it in my hands within a week. :D

But really should of realized that this was coming down the pipe since 9-11. That the control freaks (see American government) that would demand it. So when they started to make rumblings about an identity card (a bit Orwellian if you ask me), I snagged mine right off the hop.

Did they say how long it will take for you to get the passport in your hands?
that would be a concern for a dirty old man like you
wouldn't want to pass away before you got your passport
especially when you have to pre pay $87
which could otherwise be used for a 1/2 hour asian incall

fwiw they guess 3 weeks

If you apply online (ePass), you bypass the line completely when you pick it up.

Does anyone know exactly how long it takes to get your passport? I'm going to be travelling soon and I was told 3 weeks and in some cases longer.

3-4 weeks.. sometimes 2 weeks. It all depends how busy they are.

If you have already purchased tickets, it may be possible to speed up the process.. there is a spot on the application asking if you have plans to travel... but then with the rush to get passports.. who knows?!!

What a great cash cow for the government!
