Just called to see about an outcall to Brooklin. From their site, Outcall to Whitby is 160/hr. Now they have raised the rate to 175/hr for Brooklin which is tecnically still Whitby, according to my tax bill anyway. Cant see why driving exactly two minutes north of Taunton, Ive timed it, is worth $15. On a two hour call they expect the extra $30. Either whomever sets the rates needs a map or is just greedy. Either way, they just lost some business. Now they get squat.

I know, its only $30 but its the principal of being charged $15 extra for a two minute drive. On a one hour call they do a drop and pickup which is obviously factored into the rate. On a two hour call which I normally do, Im paying for two drops and two pickups already. Now they want an extra $30 as well. Forget it. They claim that they have to do more driving so they charge more to Brooklin. On a two hour call, they drive half as much and still charge for four trips plus the premium for each hour to Brooklin.

Lil Darlings, you just lost my business. See what being greedy gets you.

Well they have to draw the line somewhere.

No matter where they draw the line there will always be someone just on the other side of the edge that it affects.

Sucks but that's the way it is.

Even funnier are those stories of people within walking distance of each other who are considered long distance calls.

I live across a small lake from a good friend of mine....with binoculars, we can read written messages to each other. G-ddamn good thing that is too as it's Long Distance to call!!!

Long distance is a fraking sham anyways

I know there has to be a line somewhere and I know $15 isnt a huge deal but to charge the premium for the two extra minutes drive then charge it again for a second hour when they dont even make the drive is too much. They have to remember something here. When the price of gas goes up I have to buy it anyway, but their service is something I can definately live without. Im reasonable but not stupid.

They are doing well. I tried to see someone from there the last two nights but there booked solid. Supply and demand. If they are booked solid on a (4 girls on shift) Monday and Tuesday then there doing pretty good. When demand is up you will see price increase thats just how it works.

actually

actually brooklin is part of whitby. it is included in the population of whitby. just because it takes 5 minutes or so to drive to the town, does not mean it is part of whitby.

go north of brooklin on highway 12 and you will see a welcome to whitby sign. just like on simcoe near the ridges. you see a welcome to oshawa sign... that is north of columbus . it is all considered part of oshawa .

look at north york or richmond hill or aurora . all of them are considered part of toronto. just as durham is part of the GTA.

Well if you can afford to live in Brooklin you can afford the new rates!

Kiwi.

As someone else already pointed out, Brooklin is indeed part of Whitby. Since I live there and pay taxes to the town of Whitby I ought to know. Secondly, since I do live here and in fact drive here everyday, I can assure you that unless youre driving a to Brooklin via Pickering, it isnt 15 minutes. Two minutes north of Taunton at the speed limit. Thirdly, you have a right to post your opinion. So does everyone else. Dont come here telling people what they can and cant post.

I often have suggested Little Darlings to clients of my own (when busy and not able to book), feedback being great I think....although rates are rates... loyalty to existing clients is VERY important as well. A few SMALL compermises don't seem too much to ask of, but again... supply and demand dicates, more then not.

Always a point some don't understand which can contribute to a their choices... but again, when even getting an appointment is difficult- hourly, multi or the half, perhaps even though I see the fundament or principle- when they are busy, they may not think twice...in your business or the effect without.

However a time always comes when the phones aren't ringing off the hook, even with the best of us. I always say, regulars or an oppurtunity to create a long with standing relationship... is your bread and butter and valued more then a quick "short term" arrangement.

Only my two cents...

Perhaps they may reconsider or make some sort of happy medium... and if not, your money is better suited elsewhere...

From my own observation, I'd say Little Darlings- as perfect or not in anyones eyes... are still valued and a great addition to the durham region. Perhaps it was an overlooking or poor judgment, but ultimately- they can do whatever they wish...without having to justify or explain. It could have been the human element also- which we sometimes lose touch with (being bombarded by too many calls, having a bad day...)

So, perhaps contacting them... and discussing this would be suffice- if not... book elsewhere. You have the ability to dicate where you money and time goes, just as much as they do...

But remember... more times then not, the cut being what it is- your business would most likely be a loss to the girl- not the agency. So, win or lose... 30 may not mean much to you, but it does to the girl. So you may think your punishing the "agency" but ultimately... the girl may be effected more then you think. So, perhaps they have morals and decided fair was fair... who's to judge? On the other hand, you avoid this altogether with indy's who decide for themselves...booking directly and able to make a choice for themselves.

Francesca's comments are well stated. Little Darlings very likely will have a time when the phones are not "ringing off the hook" [especially if they don't hire some new talent] and they will be wishing they had made some wiser decisions relating to those who supported them in the beginning.

cheers

How is that for a posted opinion????
nice imo

but seriously, terbfan, you should be happy that someone is willing to provide outcalls in the boonies, not coming here bitching over $30

again KWI

again KWI go north of brooklin and you will see the big sign on the side of the road that says WELCOME TO WHITBY up near the ridges. just NORTH of Myrtle stat.

brooklin is in the township of whitby . and brooklin was a hamlet, then moved up to a town. it is NOT classified a "CITY" until it gets over a certain population.

and i use to live in Port Perry and i can tell you i would of paid more in taxes that you would of paid in whitby. the water bill came under city of Oshawa.

there is also a a sign that says welcome to OSHAWA and the bottom of the ridges on simcoe which is just south of port perry. so the OSHAWA city extends north to include Columbus and raglan
