I just recently heard about this complex being built by 403 & Winston Churchill. Looks massive and apparently will have great facilities. They have many locations in the states and this is the first one in Canada.

I did a little research and looks like they are going to be charging $120/month for memberships. I can't see this working when most other gyms you can get rates at a third of the price.

They like have special offers, showing how you "save" 50% by signing up in the next 10 days, then 2 weeks later on run the special offer again, lol

Complete rip off, it will fail and they will drop the price or get bought out by one of the other franchises!

Interesting. And what do you get for that? What facilities and equipment?

The indoor and outdoor pools would be great, but this is classic Bait And Switch. I was checking the weight room photo for a squat rack and then noticed that all the photos are from an existing facility in Nevada!
And from the size of the building it looks like it's going to need a lot of members to stay open. A huge outdoor pool in Mississauga is going to be expensive to maintain, and only open a few months out of the year.

I like my friendly neighbourhood Goodlife gym, it's small but there's very few people in the free weights area when I go (around 6:30 am), they keep everything clean and in good repair, and they have early-morning spin classes a few times each week. That's all I really need. It's around $50/month.

i'm a former member at a location in the states

the only issues i had were:

1. during peak times, there was a hard time finding parking
2. the price was high, but at that time, they were the only 24-hour facility in the area

If it's 24-hours, that's a big plus in my books. But the key is if they will stay that way or tighten up their hours a year after opening.

Parking shouldn't be an issue as they have a huge plot of land.

I'm interested/intrigued but I just can't see them maintaining the membership numbers they're going to need to support such a big facility at the price they want.

I think the original plan was to stay open 24 hrs. Now it looks like they will be open 4:30 to midnight.

Corporate rate:
Weights, cardio, squash courts, pool, towel service, basketball, Sauna and use of all their other clubs in Canada and U.S. I really dont need anything else. No contract and able to freeze membership if I dont go for several months.
