He has effectively flopped from Democrat to Republican and is considered a traitor to the Democratic party. I think thats neither here nor there as being a "traitor" to a political party is just a silly concept.
However, I consider him a traitor to his country. Lieberman is a conservative Jew with very close ties (financial and emotional) to Israel. He is a senator from Connecticut, but is in effect the senator from Israel. When he lost the Democratic primary for Senator, he ran as an Independent. His huge financial backing came from Israeli sources and they enabled him to pull off a stunning victory against well funded Democratic and Republican candidates.
In the past Lieberman was as liberal as Ted Kennedy, making his support for the Iraqi war suspect. It is to Israel's advantage for the muslim countries to be destablized, and the ongoing war does just that. Lieberman's number one concern is Israel.
Now I am not an Israel basher, in fact in every post I have ever made concerning Israel/arab and Jew/Muslim I have been 100% on the side of Israel. I am just fed up that this traitor Lieberman is looked on as having some kind of moral superiority when he is actually selling out his own country for a foreign state.
And the media is silent on this.
