Just wanted to advise everyone here that I recently built myself a new PC to use as a home entertainment computer. I also at the time purchased a Blu Ray DVD rom by LG to play Blu Ray movies through onto my Plasma screen.

Well I finally rec'd my Iron Man Blu Ray which I ordered from Amazon.ca and sat down, got the popcorn out of the microwave and slide the disc in....Woop, need a software upgrade to play the disc. No problem, just click update. Woop, there's a problem, cyberlink's website is down and has been down since last friday. Woop, wrote LG asking about what do I do now? Woop, LG rep Dave Herbert says: TFB, we have no control over cyberlink's website. I wrote him back saying, well LG should, they provided the software, have their logo all over the disc and the onscreen menu. He responds with: You have sent this email in error, go online and fill out another form.

So now I have a blu ray player that can't play blu ray discs and since this is the only software that comes with it, and you can't update it, it is basically useless unless I buy Nero (or the like) for another $80.00.

In my opinion LG should NOT be selling a piece of technology that can't be used as it is intended. IMO this is like selling a plasma HDTV that cannot recieve HD signals.......

For the record the unit is a GGC H20L but since LG supplies the software I'd say this problem would apply to ALL LG Blu Ray DVD Roms.....

just download whatever you need from any torrent site.
Yeah, the problem with that is so far, all I've gotten is nero 9 w/o blu ray and even with cyberlink, their site is down so even if I get the latest version, it doesn't have the updates and you can't update cuz their site is down.

I tried for 6 hrs on sunday to find one version of one piece of software that could actually play blu-ray (w/o any virus') and to no avail.....

Well, isn't that special. I cannot load it from either computer. (one's running norton and one ca so that can't be it).

Whenever I try and access it I either get IE cannot load page, or it kicks me over to google search.

Not one page from cyberlink will load....

Works fine for me using Opera.

Safari opens the page with no issues.

However non of these updates appear to apply to your bundled version per Cyberlink:

How to update my Blu-ray Disc software in order to play newly-released Blu-ray Disc titles?

Here are some ways to find the update for your software:

1. Click Yes if the program asks to update the program. You'll then be connected to the CyberLink Web site and download the updated version of Blu-ray Disc software with the latest AACS keys.
2. Click the Upgrade button in PowerDVD, download the latest update and install it. The Upgrade feature can also be accessed by:
* Pressing the keyboard combination key Ctrl+A when PowerDVD is running.
* Clicking the Configuration button on PowerDVD.
3. If there's an update (patch), PowerDVD will pop up a notification periodically. You can click on this message to download and install the update.

That's great, but the problem is: the website doesn't pop up when I do all that.....

Someone else tried it and pm'd me: the page loads but the update links are dead....

Frankly, it sounds to me like the whole thing's a little flakey.

I tried loading it with firefox and got the same result.

It did the same thing to me, then I just clicked on 'Try Again' button. You may have to be persistent on this. I just downloaded PowerDVD_LG_bluray.exe. If this is what you want, I have it, about 38.2 megs.

THanks guys, I appreciate it but my version is 7.3 and those upgrades don't recognize it.....

funny thing: I had a thought to use an anonymizer and whoop, I can see the site just fine. I wonder if they are blocking Canadian IPs? Or Rogers? Or ???

But it won't let me download the patch. I need the second one down for DVD Ultra suite 7. The anonymizer won't let me create a support ticket either....
