Just wanted to advise everyone here that I recently built myself a new PC to use as a home entertainment computer. I also at the time purchased a Blu Ray DVD rom by LG to play Blu Ray movies through onto my Plasma screen.
Well I finally rec'd my Iron Man Blu Ray which I ordered from Amazon.ca and sat down, got the popcorn out of the microwave and slide the disc in....Woop, need a software upgrade to play the disc. No problem, just click update. Woop, there's a problem, cyberlink's website is down and has been down since last friday. Woop, wrote LG asking about what do I do now? Woop, LG rep Dave Herbert says: TFB, we have no control over cyberlink's website. I wrote him back saying, well LG should, they provided the software, have their logo all over the disc and the onscreen menu. He responds with: You have sent this email in error, go online and fill out another form.
So now I have a blu ray player that can't play blu ray discs and since this is the only software that comes with it, and you can't update it, it is basically useless unless I buy Nero (or the like) for another $80.00.
In my opinion LG should NOT be selling a piece of technology that can't be used as it is intended. IMO this is like selling a plasma HDTV that cannot recieve HD signals.......
For the record the unit is a GGC H20L but since LG supplies the software I'd say this problem would apply to ALL LG Blu Ray DVD Roms.....
