At 73 years old he is ill health, he cannot perform anymore, his son headed up Genesis until 2022. Here are some of my favorite tunes.

I love the piercing sound of the drums.

Dueling drums with Chester Thompson (Frank Zappa, Power Station). Thompson was Genesis's tour drummer from 1977 to 2010.

Good news for Phil Collins fans. Earlier this week I heard on the radio that he may be releasing a new album of new material in the next year. He apparently spent some money building or upgrading a studio in his house so he could do the work there. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Edit: Found this on the internet confirming the news.

You like Phil Collins?

His early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when 'No Jacket Required' came out in '85, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Phil has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

In '89, Phil released 'But Seriously', his most accomplished album. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "Another Day in Paradise". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about homelessness. It's also a personal statement about the singer himself.

One of the most talented and successful musical artists of the 70's and 80's. This is definitely one of my favorites from him
