NEW: Brooklyn State Sen Kevin Parker, known for his fiery temper and political controversies, finds himself embroiled in a legal paradox. He’s battling r*pe allegations under the very law he voted for—the "Adult Survivors Act." Parker, who once promoted this legislation as a victory for justice, is now calling it unconstitutional in a desperate bid to fend off a lawsuit accusing him of a 2004 rape. “I voted in favor of the [Adult Survivors Act] to ensure all New Yorkers can seek justice and be heard,” Parker said of the legislation, signed into law by Hochul in May 2022. “These allegations are absolutely untrue. My work and advocacy will continue,” Parker now states, defending his past actions. Yet, his recent legal maneuvers starkly contrast his prior stance, highlighting a dramatic flip as he now questions the law’s constitutionality after it allowed Olga Jean-Baptiste to bring forth her lawsuit against him. Jean-Baptiste alleges Parker assaulted her during a 2004 collaboration on relief efforts for Haiti. Governor Hochul described the accusations as “deeply disturbing,” adding to the senator's troubles, which include past convictions for assault and criminal mischief.
