Leafs tv today...

PreGame skate this afternoon... I watched the leafs practice while at my desk. guess what? they look like they are working on a strangely familiar defensive coverage system known as the trap. All took part except Sundin's line. Does this mean much? Also, a heck of alot of screaming and yelling from Maurice's assistant (if that's who he is) I don't know who he is.

BTW- the Leafs practiced at a much higher tempo than Ottawa's skate, which was relaxed and had what looked like 'creativity' drills. At end of skate, Heatly shot about 50 pucks in a row from the top of the right circle... Not his usual scoring position is it?

I agree with Kathleen. That was the best effort and play I have seen from the leafs in years. Finished checks, passing was excellent, rythym was there, but they needed Toskala in net, Raycroft still allowed a softie.

Side note: Its a great contract Heatly got, though I'd never offer more then 2-3yrs as a GM.
I think the league needs to make a rule of a 3 yr max.

Too many players like Joe Sakic, Jagr, etc who 'turn it up' as contract come close to endings, then have no real drive for the first yrs of a long term deal.

If I ran a sports team, people would be paid based on their performance...

Unfortunately, there would always be owners and GMs with more money than brains who would sign all my best players away and leave me with... with....

I would not be lucky enough to be in a market like Toronto.. with my luck my team would be based in Mississippi and I would be bankrupt before too long..

Let's see what Toskala can bring tonight. The Sens will be hanging their banner tonight and will be fired up for the home opener.

The Leafs need to pound hard, clean checks all night on Spazza, Heatley and Tinkerbell Alfie. It takes them off their game noticably.

Side note, Heatley signs a 45 million deal, not bad for a guy who should be banging out license plates in a Georgia prison. I wonder if he will help the Snider family or donate any to a worthy cause that educates on the dangers of driving like an ass?

Redden was NOTICABLY shook as well, the exact formula the Ducks used last spring...pound em hard!
