and don't trade your high draft picks away for short term gains. Got to continue to build for the future

I would try to get Nathan Horton and Andrew Ference in the off season as free agents this year. Then get Patrice Bergeron in 2015 as a free agent. Maybe even get Dustin Brown in 2015 as a free agent. I think those 3 or 4 guys can help the Leafs get closer to the cup or even win it in 2015 or 2016 or 2017.

That's the Business template (not sports) that they have been using for over forty years.

It's works very well for them, they're running at a profit and Winning (dedication to their fan base) is not their priority in the least.

What your saying doesn't make sense and you no understanding about sports owners. So what your saying is that the owners of MLSE are only happy to make a profit during the regular season. Yet, when it comes to making more profits by going 4 rounds in the playoffs, they don't care??? The are 3 sure things in life, death, taxes and the rich wanting to get richer.

The owners of MLSE want to win so badly that they just can't get it right with the right personnel in upper management. That's the problem.

People who say that this is Burke's team forget that guys like Kessel, Kadri, Reimer, etc. performed much better AFTER Burke left.

That is just plain illogical
A players improvement after a GM leaves is most likely due to their maturing, rather than a General Mangers presence up in the press box

Reasons We Hate Toronto

.

To understand what everybody thinks about Toronto, read the article in today’s Montréal Gazette.

Montréal Gazette: http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Jack+Todd+Reasons+hate+Toronto/8407689/story.html

PS: Congratulations to the Maple Laughs on a new NHL Record: The Maple Laughs have become the first team in NHL history to lose a Game 7 that they were leading by three goals with 10 minutes to play.

PPS: Enjoy the day off today as we celebrate la Journée nationale des patriotes (National Patriots' Day).

We can develop our own winners. Reimer is a winner. Jake Gardiner is 22 and can play for another 15 years. Kadri is only 22. Kessel is only 25.
A lot of players these days dont want to come to Toronto as free agents. Witness the lack of top talent signing with the leafs over the last several years. Many top players have just avoided T.O. Even soon to be top free agents have Toronto on their no trade list. Why do you think the leafs couldn't get guys like Nash or Suter? And don't be surprised to see Kessel leave after next year when he's a free agent.

Nash who? Boston took a 3-0 command lead in the series, where is your savior Nash who? BTW, how much he is paid this year? One goal for 10 playoff games?

THIS begs the question, a painful one that is, what could have been IF Toronto met NYR the second round? Oh, it hurts, really hurts when Toronto had so much more to show in their series against Boston, unlike the highly paid and raved Rangers...to watch this BB vs NYR is living the pain once again.

THIS goes without saying, Buds has done much better than the Habs(not) this year's playoffs, at least we had 3 wins :D

...and after Ron Wilson left. Randy Carlyle had a lot to do with it this year. They were simply better coached. The other thing is Carlyle wasn't afraid to send under achievers/performers like Komisarek and Connolly down to the Marlies. Colborne looked good when he got called up for the playoffs but I didn't think he looked that great with the Marlies.

I think losing Bozak for the final game had an impact. He was their best face off man and winning face offs and gaining puck possession late in the game could have made all the difference. Sometimes it's something as simple as that.

For a team that most "experts" figured wouldn't finish better than 12th. they did a great job. Good experience for the young guns!

Looking forward to next year.
