I'm going to try to be as diplomatic as possible. I do realize that there are die hard Leaf fans in this group. Let's first discuss the positives about this team. They can fight. Definitely. It seems like every game. They get high marks for this. They actually looked like a hockey team in the preseason. They actually won some games. I guess that should count for something. What do you think? Maybe... then again, maybe not. Now let's get to reality. This team is an abomination. They are an affront to any sports team in any sports league. The term "compete" should never be used together with "Maple Leafs." Ever. Got it? This team has no talent. Got it? NO TALENT. But they can fight. Remember that. What bothers me is the fan base use the term, "Leafs Nation." I went to Boston this summer. I had the pleasure to be part of "Red Sox Nation" for a weekend. The passion that these fans had for their Red Sox was beyond description. But the love that they have for their team is justified. The Red Sox compete. Year after Year. They've won 2 World Championships in the past 5 years. Management rewards the fans passion with winning teams. Management respects that fans spend hard earned dollars to watch their team and rewards them accordingly. None of the above applies to the Leafs. Why "Leafs Nation?" They should be called LOSERS AND SUCKERS. How else to describe 42 years of this crap?? Never in the history of sports has so much been written or said about such a shitty team. Never in the history of sports have fans been so disrespected by Management as they displayed such insane loyalty and spent such an insane amount of money on tickets, only to be rewarded with such shit. Burke, or Birkie or whatever the fans refer to the fucker, is an overpaid blowhard. Simple as that. Just look at the results. This team could finish dead last this year. I guess you could say, well at least we will get a great draft pick. Oh.. wait... didn't Birkie trade away the Leafs first round picks??

This season is looking like disaster of epic proportions. I see nothing amongst this bunch or on the farm that can correct this ship. In their wildest dreams Boston couldn't have thought they'd be getting the 1st overall pick.

I just don't understand this team. It really sucks lol
They do suck... but geez guys, its only 5 games into the season. The fans were booing the team last night.

I did not expect much from the team offensively. Especially when they sent down Kadri and Bozek. I am terribly disappointed in the defense and goaltending so far.

Oh well, at least they are winning the fights.

Burke said it was going to get worse before it gets any better and he certainly wasn't joking.

Yeah, they could be like the Blue Jays. Hot at the beginning and then stone cold dead the rest of the season. This way the Leafs can be stone cold dead wire to wire:(.

Burke said we would not trade Schenn and the first round pick to Tampa Bay because we would look like an idiot. Well he traded 2 first rounds and a 2nd round for a guy who hasn't played yet and are dead last in the league. Burke is begining to look like an idiot now.

You Leaf fans are funny.

5 games in and you're ready to throw in the towel?

I thought Leafs Nation was where the "real" pro sports fans were at?

Standing applause for Darcy Tucker after basically running him out of town 2 years earlier?

And then booing your own team?

The bandwagon gets lighter by the minute.

Leaf fans are funny.

I keep seeing this "for a guy that hasn't played yet". For christ sakes they have played 6 games. They have him signed for FIVE YEARS.

This would work, its a little radicle but it would work.

Buy Phoenix, a well managed team with up and coming talent. Transplant to Toronto. Relocate the Leafs to Hamilton......win...win...win.

That was a heck of a roll of the dice with the Kessel trade. Kessel will have to show a lot more in Toronto than he did in Boston for it to look half-way decent a few years down the road. Rule #1 in rebuilding: don't mortgage the future. Not that I'm smarter than the GM but it seemed like a mistake to me at the time. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do something. Then again I'm a Sens fan so I'm LOVING this. The Blue Team Elimination Watch has already begun on the local sports radio station. hee hee ...

I think you guys should read LEAFS ABOMINATION from Feschuk and Grange...

made me truely realize that this team no matter who plays for them and how good they can be will never win....

Here's the way I see it. The Leafs would have been better off keeping the draft pics and slowly rebuilding the team through the draft with young talent. It might take 5 years or so but it's not like they have to worry about filling their arena.
I remember Quebec doing this years ago. They stunk for years but reaped the benefits of their patience (or Colorado did). With players like Sundin, Sakic, Nolan and Lindros (who they traded for a package that included Forsberg). Of course it helped that they stole Roy from the Habs.
Burke says that he feels Kessel is better than the draft pics they would have had. If they finsh to low, then that a lot of potential talent they could have had.
It's still early but this could really backfire bigtime. Time will tell.
