Friend works for a Bingo Hall (fastest growing form of gambling in Ontario). He tells me that they've been told (some agency of the government) to up prices and adjust the prize boards.

Apparently attendance has been dropping since Christmas and thus revenues.

Dude, the bingo halls have been dying a slow death for the past 5 years, ever since Woodbine and then the smoking ban came in. Show me some proof its the fastest growing form of gambling in Ontario.

Never been to a bingo hall. Is it the kind of place that a guy can pick up some welfare-mom type, or is it set up that you can't really mingle/talk. Are they licensed? Seems like whenever I drive by one, there's a rocker babe out front having a smoke.

Rather than pick one ill informed individual I suggest you do some home work before showing how little you know on a subject.

15,000 sq.ft hall is small and dying? 18 years of age, and up, of both sexes play in these halls.

Read my post, fastest growing form of gambling in Ontario.

Best ratio of expenditures to winnings of all forms of gambling.

If you don't believe do your own research and prove me wrong..........

They had a hall in Milton that made a lot of money for local charities. But once the casino went into Mohawk raceway, the bingo declined and eventually folded.

When my son was playing hockey we had a sponsor night at a bingo hall. Absolutely brutal. Because I smoke I was given the smoking room. ACK! I am a smoker and i left my clothes in the garage when I got home I smelled so bad!

Yes the smoking ban has hurt the bingo halls big time.

I know some parents who's kids are still playing towards scholarships etc and the teams still run the bingo nights..but they're all looking for alternative fund raising options as the halls have at least half the attendance from a few years ago.

There's just more places to spend the gambling dollar..and lets face it for a lot of people it was a night out that suited their lifestyle. Now it doesn't suit them.

I have to tell you I hated those damn bingo nights. The people treated the volunteers like shit. They all had this attitude like we were there to serve them. I had one 300 pounder who wanted me to clean off the nacho's and cheese and DIET coke from his space. Told him to try and walk to the garbage pail on his own. Bastards were snotty as hell. I hated every minute in there. I'm a pretty easy going person and I like to laugh
and have fun in any situation. After doing bingo twice..I was in the "WTF do YOU WANT!" mode every time thereafter.

I don't miss bingo at all!

I've scanned your URL's and found most are dated on or about June 2006. We are in March 2007.

Yes, there has been an impact from the smoking ban, however, the information I posted is valid. It is the fastest growing form of gambling etc.

Fuji! you're a womanizing slimeball so surely you'll know the answer - can a guy pick up at a Bingo Hall?? Or is it all about the cards, man??

I've never been to a bingo hall but used to live near one. Most of the women I saw hanging around couldn't be picked up with a crane.

No!

Are you aware that you contradicted yourself?

A down turn of four months coupled with a hefty increase over two years in this case still resulted in the fastest growing form of gambling.

If you want to pick up girls. Wrong idea. The 18 years + gals have more important things on their minds than sex driven, maybe single, males. Their husbands and boyfriends playing opposite them!:D
