Joe Tilley did not retire. He was let go. CTV in their infinite wisdom decided to eliminate sportscast. Ergo, I no longer watch CTV news.

I wasn't aware of that. They canned Lance Brown too. I remember they did a big round of cuts a couple years ago as well. I guess it's just a matter of time before more layoffs happen.

They also let Amber Payie and Bob Summers, the traffic reporters on City Panic 24 go as well.

Bell let 50 some odd employees go back in late November

Bell did this a year ago with their Barrie station. The weather guy retired and they didn't replace him. They fired their sports guy. You never know who is going to deliver the news. Sometimes they have one of their few roving reporters as news anchor. This is all too typical of what happens when big business takes over the little guy.
Remember the Heinz deal. Same thing..... sort of.

Thank the Good Lord they let dopey Joe go, or retire, who cares as long as he's gone. I used to turn the TV off for 10 seconds every time he did that dumb pointing gesture. He looked like a 'special needs' person.

They still do sports, I just need to know the game scores. It's an even greater pleasure to see Zuraidah do it without 'yakking'.
