Your place!!
Saw the ad for Laser Vision Correction in the Paper and heard it on TV. Has anyone had it done for $490 an eye? They are now saying 20/20 vision or it's free. I'm thinking of getting it done, does anyone recommend this place or should I look else where? A friend had it done a few years ago and it cost him about $5000. (Not from Lasik MD)

If one has dry eye, the proceedure can make it worse.

Theres been a few posts in the past regarding this matter, most recent was from earlier this year i believe.
Personally, i went to TLC. have absolutely no complaints, everyone was super nice and definitely recommend.

I agree that just because a place is more costly than the other doesnt mean that its better. But seeing commercial of LasikMD for that price on tv so often, does kinda make me second guess it. But I believe others have gone there and it was fine. Search the past threads.

In the end,you need to go in yourself to these places, and make the judgment yourself. All depends on which you are most comfortable with.

i would never take chances at a place like that with my eyes. if i were to do it i'd make sure i'd go with the best doctors available. i dont care if it does costs more.
I'd think the best doctors are ones with the most experience/clients.

Research the hell out of it before you jump. There are a growing number of folks in the states who are putting together an action against these providers of lasik. Was a show on CFRB the other day discussing Lasik and the effects 10 years later. Does not sound good. If i find the info i will PM you with the details. CHECK IT OUT FIRST!!!

Got it USATODAY Report http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2001-06-28-lasik.htm

La la land
Lie

guy at work had it done around 2001/2002.

he left the company and came back for more money and I got screwed with less money. IT pays to kiss ass and cover in colon lubricant.

Back to the matter at hand.
After week I notice he was wearing glasses but thinner lenses.

WTF? dude.

" oh some eyes will revert back to what they used to be but I wear thinner lenses"

so if you are desteny [ destiny] to have glasses you will have them.

I got mine done at LasikMD downtown Toronto a little over 3 years ago. Been nothing but happy since I did. 20/20 in one eye, 20/25 in the other; and from where I started at, that's pretty damn good!

The $499 per eye deal is only for people that require minimal correction - I was about $2500 for everything...

I think it's great, but the dry-eye thing is very true - I do use eyedrops once in a while now, and I never used to; and I find that I wear sunglasses more then I used to, too - but both very minor!

way out in left field
I also worked with someone who had the procedure done and they actually over corrected his eyes. He was far sighted before the operation and then he was near sighted lol....they fixed him up but they had to wait for him to heal properly and totally before correcting the mistake.

I think it all depends on how bad your 'script is. For eg: my contact lens' are 8.25 diopters in each eye, which causes problems with my now needed reading glasses for up close, and if I were to wear glasses they'd be about 3/8" thick each. I talked to my eye doc about lasik and told him: if I could correct my eyes so that I could wear thinner len's or just so I could "see" without putting in my contacts, that'd work for me.

If I were to get it done, and I've also heard that it doesn't last forever, if I could get 5 or 10 years out of it, I'd say it's money well spent. If you just factor in the cost of nice glasses ($200.00) and the lens being replaced every couple of years, you're talking a grand or so just for glasses.

A determing factor too is how stable are your eyes? If you need to update your 'script every couple of years, your eyes are still changing. If (like me) they haven't changed in 10 yrs or so, you'll probably see better results.

My advice is talk to your eye doc, he has no interest either way other than to make sure you make an informed decision (unless of course he sells glasses as well).

I had mine done at TLC in Waterloo. Great place and great after care. I recomend checking out all of the clinics before making your choice. And search the web for stories and blogs. I have 20/20 now in both eyes and am extremely happy.

I had mine done a little over two years ago. Just had my latest check up and I'm still seeing 20/15. The cost back then was only $490 per eye but that was because I had very minor corrections. Others I know did it and paid more, but they had more to correct including stigmatisms.

I'm very happy with the results I got. The Dr., a women, is known to have great results. I think around 30% of here patients actually come out with better than 20/20 vision.

I never had problem with dry eyes before the procedure and haven't had the problem since. One thing I was told when I was in for my last check up is that a lot of people do not follow the recovery procedures and end up having problems and then blame it on the procedure.
