Las Vegas servers say they're feeling the heat as high prices and declining tourism hammer their tip earnings across the Strip.Tipping in Sin City is reportedly down by as much as 50% among servers, as some of them blame the economy and policy while others point to high prices, a tipping backlash and poor service.

On Reddit's r/VegasLocals forum, one cocktail waitress wrote, "I used to average about 80 cents a drink. Now I'm averaging about 10 cents."
"We are working triple what we used to and making a quarter of what we did," another person added on the forum.

Jacob Soto, 22, a supervisor at Pinkbox Doughnuts in downtown Las Vegas, told The Wall Street Journal that he used to make up to $200 a week in credit card tips, but now only earns between $100 and $150.

While the city saw an 11.3% drop in overall visitation in June compared to the same time last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), international travel to Vegas is down approximately 10% year over year.

Ted Pappageorge, secretary-treasurer of the Culinary Workers Union, which represents 60,000 Vegas workers, said federal immigration and economic policies are keeping international travelers away. "The unions and the industry and the government need to get together and repair the damage and welcome tourism back," he told Fox News Digital. Pappageorge called the tipped income tax exemption proposed in President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill" a "welcome relief." He pointed out, however, that if workers aren't "making the tips, the credit doesn't help." He said companies have already frozen hiring and made targeted staffing cuts, with part-time workers – who make up 25% of the union's membership – being the first to lose hours. "If it continues, it could bleed into the full-timers," he added.

Some industry observers assert the problem is more local."Many attribute this not only to a general dip in international travel demand to the U.S., but also to aggressive price-gouging by hospitality venues," Rob DelliBovi, a consultant and founder of the Miami-based RDB Hospitality Group, told Fox News Digital.

"Guests are pushing back on $18 bottles of water in the minibar and $37 martinis."

Many people in the r/VegasLocals thread agree.
Said one Redditor, "Twenty-five-dollar drinks … $30 pancakes, $35 burgers … and on top of it you have to tip?"
Added another person, "Nobody wants to give you 20% on top of the already exorbitantly overpriced s---."
A beer recently cost nearly $15 at a casino, yet another person said.

"What that translates to is me drinking less beer and tipping less," the person said.
"I understand that casinos have costs, but this is absurd."

Las Vegas tourism dropped 11.3% in June compared to the same time last year.
"I'm tired of tipping for everything, as quality of service has consistently gone down," another person wrote.

One Vegas waitress, who requested anonymity out of fear of losing her job, also said she thinks the quality of service has declined.
"For the price, it should be impeccable," she told Fox News Digital.
She said aggressive upselling tactics, repetitive restaurant concepts and a lack of genuine hospitality are turning off tourists and locals alike. As a result, she said she's also seen tip revenue decrease by half compared to last summer.

A Las Vegas waitress said the quality of service has declined, leading to a decrease in tips.
The waitress said businesses on the Strip need to return to the basics of hospitality and focus on local clientele rather than only international customers.
"The locals don't want to pay double for food that's not any better and for servers to be rude," she said.

Despite the downturn, Vegas has not lost its hustle yet, DelliBovi said.

Im here now... doesn't look dead but prices were high for food. Will update.

Btw is it still a thing not to see escorts here? I know crime was a concern last time I came.

It is a great place to see escorts if you are willing to pay $500 - $600 or so an hour and provide screening information. I see one independent who is less expensive than that, but she can be difficult to schedule with. The 100 Proof agency is the easiest to schedule with once you are screened. If you aren’t willing to pay the U.S. market rate and provide screening information, you are indeed better off just not seeing escorts in Vegas.

Back in the day, if you were physically gambling on the slots or playing poker, drinks were free. That was back in the 60's. LOL.

If this recession hits like 2008 there will be lots of local "part timers" working the casino floors. I had great success on a few trips getting Toronto service levels at near Toronto prices. With no clock watching. There were just looking to make car, phone payments with shift cuts. Not casino workers but retail, Healthcare, office worker types.

ya but if you are a stiff and dont tip, you will never find her for a 2nd drink
Tip big on the first drink ($10 ) and $2 per drink per person on all later drinks min. ( I give $5 for 2 drinks ) The girl will stick to you like glue. Most everyone else are tipping a buck a drink. Taking it easy on the sight seeing, see only one place a day, or two if they are close together. Take a night off and stay in hotel. If you drink in, stay away from the mini bar. For the price of a coke and bag of peanuts from the mini bar you can drink all night. From the CVS ( Shoppers Drug Mart equivalent ) you can get a bottle of martini vermouth and Fresca, tum and Coke, Gin and 7up or Cointreau and 7up and drink all night. Reasonably priced restaurant food can be found here and there. In China Town, good food at reasonable prices. Even with Uber rides, the prices are never more expensive than strip prices. How many times can you hit a buffet in a few days? If you do the buffet, just once per trip is all I can take.

Despite the 4x font I agree with everything here esp. going off-strip to eat. LV has some of the best dining experiences and most aren't on the strip. Super quality Asian cuisine in Chinatown, I agree.

Las Vegas is just experiencing a higher level of what`s happening in all US cities.

All the cities are in damn bad shape. Entire buildings are empty. Front Street commerce closed. Homeless beyond belief.

No wonder sunny cities like San Diego or Los Angeles are the worst of the worst. Misery is more tolerable under the sun.

It's more than Vegas and orbital pricing.

It's the Orange Maggot.

I will never set foot in the United States of America again as long as I live. That's how much I've come to despise America and frankly Americans. Yeah, i know that there are lots of Americans who don't want a war with Canada, but I'm having a real hard time with the Orange Turd and my hatred for him and his band of assholes just overpowers any logic associated with understsnd8ng that not all Americans are pieces of shit. Probably because I see next to nothing in terms of American Democrats doing anything or speaking out in favour of Canada.

So yeah, America can go pound. I can go to Mexico in the winter where the beaches are better, and the people are kinder and you feel a kinship with those who also despise Trump. And in the spring, summer in go to Europe where the sights and the culture and the architecture are awe inspiring. Not to mention the food that doesn't get served to you in a pail.

Donald Trump, you can kiss my ass.

Once Trump's storm troopers see your post, there's no chance they'll even let you into the US, if they can determine your actual identity. Many have been stopped at the border for something far less offensive.
