It’s a dog whistle to racial stereotypes of black athletes. The announcer is either doing this deliberately or is so racially insensitive that it didn’t even occur to him that this might be offensive. Either way, he is unfit to be on the air.
Yeah the guy is immersed in football all his life surrounded by people of all colours, treats them like family, but he's dogwhisting to the Kkk. You and Nesbot live in the same headspace.

He's not racially insensitive either. Maybe he could have used other words to convey his idea. MAYBE. He can't help that the world will latch onto what he says, take it out of context, and turn it into a problem. He had nothing but praise for the Lamar's skills but one sound bite kills it all. That's bullshit.

You're the one that's insensitive to a man speaking in frank terms, and making valid points, to want to charge him as being a monster that he clearly isn't.

This has been blown out of proportion, especially by ass-clowns like Stephen A. Smith.
It doesn't make the announcer a racist, just a lapse in judgement. I don't think he should have been suspended for a game. A reprimand would have sufficed. But good that he didn't get fired.
I deplore racists, which that orange orangutan in the White House has empowered, but you got to pick your battles more sensibly.

Richard Sherman Defends Suspended Analyst Tim Ryan After His Lamar Jackson Comments

49ers cornerback Richard Sherman defended radio analyst Tim Ryan following his comments made about Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson's "dark skin color" on Monday.

Sherman said he didn't interpret Ryan's comments as racist.

"I know Tim personally and I listened to the dialogue and saw it written, and honestly I wasn’t as outraged as everybody else," Sherman said. "I understand how it can be taken under a certain context and be offensive to some, but if you're saying, this is a brown ball, they're wearing dark colors, and he has a brown arm, honestly, sometimes we were having trouble seeing it on film."

"He's making a play fake and sometimes he's swinging his arm real fast and you're like, Does he have the ball? And you look up and [Mark] Ingram is running it. So it was technically a valid point, but you can always phrase things better."

"He's really good at that fake, Lamar Jackson, but when you consider his dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform, you could not see that thing," Ryan said on Monday. "I mean you literally could not see when he was in and out of the mesh point and if you're a half step slow on him in terms of your vision forget about it, he's out of the gate."

The 49ers suspended Ryan for one game, and he released a statement saying he regretted his "choice of words."

Defensive end Dee Ford also said he supports Ryan and knows the radio analyst didn't many to offend anyone.

"The words kind of got taken out of context. I think he knows now he could have used better judgment with his words, but we've got his back. I knew what he was trying to say. This era we live in, it's just what it is."

The 49ers announced on Thursday that Dennis Brown will replace Ryan during Sunday's broadcast of San Francisco's matchup against the Saints. Brown works as a host on KNBR's pre- and post-game shows.

Well pretty definitive from a black player of note.

White People can say whatever they want.
Lamar Jackson is ruining the prototypical QB these days.
Even though he is top 25 candidate for MVP, I still want to say negative things about him because he ruins QB position. I want all QB's to be slow...no way a black QB can be MVP.
No black QB can be MVP? Tell that to Steve McNair (2003), Randall Cuningham (1990), Patrick Mahomes (2018) and Cam Newton (2015). And Doug Williams won SB XXII MVP.

Well I guess that explains why so many white pitcher’s in baseball do so well.
The only reason they are so good is because you can’t pick up the white baseball coming off their white hand.
Now it all makes sense to me.

Very bad analogy. Try again.

It’s a pretty good analogy.
One that you just can’t make an argument against.
Sounds like you know very little about sports and the differences between baseball and football. That's just the tip of an argument that shuts down your 'analogy'.

Or maybe you're another millennial that has played peewee football and thinks he knows what's what.

The BILLS couldn't stop the blacks on the RAVENS again? why?
It was a crappy game.

p.s.
do half breeds count as black people?

Usually, but depends where you are in the world. In South Africa, they're considered Coloreds (a term they proudly call themselves) which is distinct from the White minority and the Black majority. But that's not relevant here. The comment by the broadcaster wasn't about race, but skin tone. If you've ever heard the terms 'lightskin' or 'dark skin' you'll know that 'Black people' come in different shades.

About the term "half breed"... is that really appropriate? You've also used the term "Oreo" in another thread. With that type of language you will wouldn't last a day as a sports colour commentator.

Well that was pretty lame!
I’ve got an open mind and I’m still waiting for your valid argument which you obviously do not have.
All you were doing is making assumptions about me which are also wrong.
I never played peewee baseball or football.
I am not a millennial.
I am a huge sports fan and consider myself quite knowledgable about many sports
So let’s see that’s three things you got wrong so that’s three strikes against you, you know what that means.
You’re out!

For starters, the pitcher isn't faking or concealing the ball, the ball is actually white (not "white" skin which is actually light beige), and the ball can ONLY be in the pitcher's hand - not passed off to someone else to pitch the ball.

I can't believe I have to explain this to a "knowledgeable" sports fan lmao.

Wow!
You really show your ignorance regarding baseball. It is well known that pitchers conceal the ball in their glove as long as possible so that the hitter does not see the baseball.
Try and do better, I’ll be waiting.

The dark skin of the football blends in with the dark skin of the athlete? What's the big deal?

You did a wonderful job at rebutting ONE of the three points I outlined. Go back to school and come back when you're ready.

This is like TDS-lite. You lost but you keep hanging on.

Does that mean Patrick Mahomes is a Coloured?

Lamar Jackson has improved his passing game considerably this season. At was a big risk letting Joe Flacco go, Jackson's ability to read defenses seemed weak. Last season's loss in the playoffs was squarely on him. Great open field runner but he threw too many picks. This season he's throwing the ball for major yardage. The Ravens have the edge over the Patriots, when linemen close the pocket on Jackson he can still find a way out. When the same is done to Brady, he's a Duck Dynasty decoy.

Classless move by Patriots fans booing Brady, it's not his fault that age is catching up to him.

Are you having difficulty pointing out the ball? The comment is ignorant and tries to lessen his greatness.
I think everybody can see the ball except for “SMALLCOCK”
Then again he can’t see the forest through the trees.
