LA trip

Going to LA for 5 days, is it better to stay downtown or close to HW blvd. Looking to check out the sights and some nightclubs.

Do not stay downtown, downtown LA is strange, the whole city is so spread out, I have been to LA many times, but never really found a reason to spend time downtown. I like to stay in Santa Monica, it is on the ocean, and also close to Beverly Hills and Hollywood, which has the best sights. And you can drive down the coast to the other beaches such as Manhattan Beach and Venice beach.

Santa Monica is a nice place to stay because of the boardwald, waterfront shopping, restaurants etc... unlike most cities, downtown in LA is considered the ghetto where all the homeless hangout because all the shelters are located there, although a lot is being done to revitalize it.

I agree,this is the place to stay,a couple blocks back is still great,the Ocean ,boardwalk,pier, muscle beach,close to Hollywood,Beverly Hills,Airport Etc. US 1 to Malibu and Santa Barbara at your door step. Take a bus tour and get your bearings. Enjoy!! PS cooler by the Ocean,points east can be dam hot.!
