Not to get off topic here, but it's amazing how much the strip business has changed over the years. I came of age in a small town (50,000 people) with many small bars. Every bar featured 4 to 5 strippers who would come on stage for 20-25 minutes (usually 4 sometimes 5 songs) and strip. While there were many girls just going through the motions I also saw a lot of really good entertainers. There were no table dances or lap dances in those days, but if you caught one of the girls in the hallway you could often step upstairs or into a dressing room for a quickie for about $80 (which seemed like a lot of money in those days.)
One of girls told me that she got paid $550 a week for 5 shows a day. There was a "circuit" and when a girl finished the week she would either move on to another town, or if it was like my town, she would move over to one of the other bars. Sometimes they could squeeze a whole month out of one town. Our town had at least seven places that I can remember. Also most of the tavern/bars also provided rooms upstairs for the girls as part of the gig. Not great rooms but they were free (and also provided a convenient place to take guys for a little extra-ciricular paid activity.)
The business now seems to be maybe one "headliner" who does a couple of shows a day and is paid by the establishment. The rest of the girls are actually paying for the privilege of stripping on stage and depend on private dances for their income (and any other outside arrangements that they may make.) When the lap dancing problems came up in the late 90's a lot of girls actually moved from stripping to MPA.
