KW SPs adopt new Nascar rule.

Gone to the future.
On a lighter note.

It appears our area SPs have adopted the new rule instituted at the Daytona 500. "Bump drafting" in the curves will no longer be allowed. It looks like this will be brought into effect at all super speedways. Considering the number of fast tracks (quality SPs) we have in KW, it's not surprising they will adopt this rule. With the number of restrictor plate (use of condom) races increasing, this issue had to be seriously looked at.

As far as who this will affect, it seems there is one dominant team that does this successfully. The "hammertmIndyCalloway" team is very good at this. Sometimes however this is much to the dismay of "the middleman", Indy. If anyone of the three gets splattered it always seems to be the guy in the middle.

The instigator of this new rule, 2005 Nascar Nextel Cup Champion, Tony Stewart, has confirmed with me that when the next new Home Depot store is opened in this area, he will make a personal appearance at the local "tracks" to test drive the #20 Home Depot Chevy at them. It nice to know that even the celebrities will have to use a restrictor plate at the great tracks here. Tony has committed to testing at: Shauna Motor Speedway, The Mariah Miracle Mile, Spiceland Raceway, Kaylyn City Speedway, The Victoria Lap International Speedway, Daisy Motorsports Park and the Jolee Junction Raceway. Some reconditioned tracks, the Erin Ride Her Raceway will also be tested. Unfortunately the Jersey Hall of Fame Speedway is no longer part of the "regular" circuit, therefore Tony can only test there by invitation. He is hoping that negotiations could be consummated before he arrives in Canada. Tony also conveyed to me that he was saddened to hear that the Jakobee High Speed Oval had closed in KW.

If testing goes well, he plans to come back next year to run some "BUScH" races. Even though he likes a "clean and smooth" track, with his off road history he likes to play in the BUScH League sometimes. He among other Nascar Nextel Cup drivers have become know as "BUScH Whackers".
I explained to Tony that his mileage may vary, as there is no guarantee he will complete a 500 miler. Local talent abounds and has supported these tracks enthusiastically. Many of the local drivers have become very adept at the "ins and outs" of sucksessful track management.

Let all congratulate the local track owners for the quality of the facilities that they provide us.
Remember, hump drafting is safer that bump drafting!

Happy racing in 2006. ;)
