This latest remake version of King Kong '05 made money...production cost $207mill. North America receipts$218.1mill plus overseas $332.158mill=world wide$550.238mill.Plus $100mill for DVD purchase and the rest for DVD rentals=$700mill.
What is it with Peter Jackson movies extended / director DVD versions more 14 mins here and a 40 mins here.
The Universal studios execs were'nt not to please with a $51mill release weekend.They predicted a $70+mill(Money grubbers)As the holiday nears Xmas the business picked up. It a 3hr08min movie so it's difficult to sit thru that with no piss break. DVD is for me. Studio head liked what they saw and gave the nod for the length of the film.
I played the Xbox game...weird ok,,,don't like 1st person games. You can only pick 1 weapon at a time.
I hardly notice any toy line like a Spiderman or a Superman franchaises.
The paltry cartoon was weak.
CGI on Skull Island saved the movie and Naomi Watts(see her in Muholland Drive)Deelicious.
So when there is newer way to watch movies (virtual or 3D without the glasses or smell o vision) A King Kong remake for sure. The ape is time-less.
