Figureheads also known as useless celebrity or useless person in the spotlight.I think you're missing the millions of Brits who look at the royal family as a symbol of their history, ie. England conquered the world hundreds of years ago. They don't look at the Queen today in the same light, but the British are very proud of their history and won't let go of the past. Today, yes they are figureheads and should be travelling the world bringing good cheer, peace and help those less fortunate, but instead some party too much, lol.
Kim on the other hand has no history but is like a train wreck, everyone likes to look at her and waiting for her to crash, thus the millions of eyeballs on her has made her millions.

The Royals contribute to the economy as there are many Brits who make a living, not just in the household, but also on the Royal estates and the businesses run/supported by the Royals. As for they're just being figureheads, some actually have responsibilities beyond being there. The Queen is annually listed as one of the most influential leaders/women in the world, previously discussed in past threads on the Royals. Her influence can be such that she has to watch what she says on particular topics, as it can have international repercussions. so much so she seldom gives her opinion on a long list of topics.umm....you do realize that the royal family are just figureheads, right? they don't actually contribute anything to society either. they were just born lucky. they're just as useless as Kim Kardashian and family. the royal family didn't benefit society at all either. what do they do for society, really? I think human beings are innately fascinatedby rich people because we seem to think/believe that rich people have better/more exciting/more fulfilling/ more happier/more exciting lives than the general population does.
