No it doesn't. You can lock your computer without being on a network.Keebler Elf said:That only works if you're on a network

Cool, I learned something new today.Kitsune said:Windows key (the one between ctrl and alt) + L
If you have a standalone workstation (a pc that is not part of a network) running Windows 2000 or XP, then you will have to activate the security options on your PC.Escohort said:When I press ctrl-alt-del I dont get an option that says "lock workstation"
I just get the windows task manager

ZZAp, you're killing me, dammit!!!!!!!zzap said:This great program will encrypt everything in your hard drive. Only with a valid pass can you open the container that holds your encrypted data. Your password becomes the encryption key.

encryption is the only true way to protect your information on the harddisk. Encryption is only as safe as your pass phrase used to encrypt the information.zzap said:This great program will encrypt everything in your hard drive. Of course none of these options will do anything to protect your PC if you DO NOT have a login password. If you have the screen saver or workstation locked, unplug the PC from power for about 15-30 seconds, plug it back in and power it on. If there is not login password, you are in.Escohort said:Ok, people, after listening to everyone's advice I have learned that someone simply has to go into WINXP user's accounts and turn the damn thing on!!
But thanks anyways
For those computer challenged people like me, here's what you do:
Click START
Click Control Panel
Click Users Accounts, and go from there
It's not too difficult to sort out
