That's not what his statement means. Also keep in mind he had just been publicly outed as gay by the accusation and was trying to deal with that at the same time. Apologizing is the standard tactic for these sorts of things. It is not an admission of anything. Indeed, many jurisdictions including Ontario have an apologies act for the very point of encouraging apologies without exposing you to liability.
I don't give a shit about legally. This is what he told the public at large.
Why would you even entertain the notion that although you don't remember the event, that it could have happened? That was the statement he issued. He was drinking a lot back then and that he didn't remember, but if it did happen he was sorry.

If it did happen?

So, if he was a pedophile he apologizes. Yeah, NO!!!!!

The statement from any sane person who does not have any tendencies to sexually assault a child would be simply, "I vehemently deny what I'm being accused of, because I am not a pedophile."

You can come up with your own conclusion as to whether he's guilty or not...jury found him not guilty and that's all that matters to Mr. Spacey...just because someone accused you of something doesn't mean you're guilty right away...why even file a case against him when you can't prove anything?
Yeah but is multiple people accuse you of something, different people with no connection to each other - usually means something is up. You can’t deny this.

I don't disagree.. you just have to prove it in court...there are some who sees the case as an opportunity to ride the wave...how much of these accusations are legit? so far he got away with one...again, evidence is key...

I get the whole court of law and civil court stuff but we are human - we don’t need convictions to have our own thoughts on the matter and to be honest - we all have a right to an opinion and we are entitled to be wrong on that opinion but if that opinion makes me feel safer, even if I’m wrong, I’m sticking with my opinion.

I’m old enough to not care anymore if I’m wrong. I can easily admit it and yet still make a judgment call.

I think @Vera.Reis Is right, if a person was charge with multiple thefts, I wouldn’t want them in my house.

if a person was charged with hurting kids, I wouldn’t want to be around them.

This is why I also think, anyone making a false claim should be arrested, convicted and should serve the amount of time the person they accused were going to get.

But Bottomline, we are human and when lots of people say the same thing, I’m gonna go with the herd. I can’t deny that.

Again, his statement didn't admit things happened as alleged. He's basically saying he may have had some sort of encounter he doesn't remember and if he did something that made Rapp uncomfortable he's apologizing, but not confirming that Rapp's version is accurate. As the trial has shown, Rap's "rape" claim may be nothing more than Spacey fell on him. Not cool, but hardly worth ruining someone's career over

This is where I bring up a cautionary real life case from 10 or so years ago. 14 women claimed they were sexually assaulted by one guy out west. Case closed right? Well turns out the cops were under pressure to get someone, for some reason picked this guy, then paid his drug addict ex $100 to testify about his "confession" to her and he went to jail for years. Some of the women provided evidence saying he was the culprit. Only later when an innocence project got involved did proper DNA tests get done on the evidence and he was completely cleared. Had zero to do with it despite the cops and 14 women claiming he did it. Not saying that's typical, but this is why we have presumption of innocence and mess with that at our collective peril. If they could get that far with someone under our current "sexist" system, imagine what they could do if we weakened due process as sone of the crazier advocates would have us do.

"In response to the allegations, Spacey tweeted that he was 'beyond horrified to hear [Rapp’s] story.'
Spacey tweeted: 'I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago.
'But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior' "

That pretty much translates to, "if I was acting like a pedophile, I'm sorry."

Sick, sick man.

And that's were herd mentality could be dangerous...anybody can gang up on one person and his life is ruined...even without sufficient evidence...Kevin Spacey was accused when "me too" movement was gaining traction...

Again, I do support punishment for those who false report {which should be done so much more then it is} because I understand how dangerous this can be. And while I may serve Spacey at a diner if I was a waitress, I won’t have him in my house. That is all I’m saying.

Sick, sick man.
It even more pretty much translates to "fat chance I did that, but here is the obligatory apology so that everyone can unclutch their fucking pearls". Which statement was prepared by his PR firm about which he has since said he had bad advice. So, not sick, sick man.

I wouldn't either, but I'd still like a proper final season of House of Cards.

How do you possibly get that translation from the statement "But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology " Rappaport described an adult making a sexual advance on a minor. Spacey's statement leaves the door open to the possibility that it did happen.

And what kind of a fucking moron agrees to a statement that basically says it is possible I might have made a sexual advance on a minor? I don't care what PR firm prepared the statement?
If he agreed to the statement, he must have thought it was reasonably accurate at the time.

Fucking pedophile.

Actor Kevin Spacey cleared of all charges of sexual assault

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has been cleared of all charges after a four-week trial in London on claims of sexual assault.

The Hollywood star, 64, had tears in his eyes as the jury at Southwark Crown Court found him not guilty of seven counts of sexual assault and two counts of other serious sexual offenses.

The allegations covered a period between 2004 and 2013, when Spacey served as artistic director at the Old Vic theater in the British capital. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

Good. Now he can get back to being paid to play himself as a squinty eyed ironic villain, instead of just being one.

He is now a legend. Vindicated in multiple trials, this is a warning to all about believing accusations unquestioned. Will be interesting to see if he now launches any lawsuits of his own for false accusations and loss of income.

Anthony Rapp is hated by everyone.

He hasn't only been roasted for turning Star Trek: Discovery into a black hole of sucking boredom. Boredom can drive people to suicide, Anthony Rapp is the perfect conduit. He's an expert at playing the victim card to stay employable, otherwise he'd be scooping out the death shit in an abattoir.

The Legendary Eric the Actor (RIP) was ten times the actor Anthony Rapp is...DISGRAZIAT.
