Semantics. She was in the store parking lot, and the company's opinion is clearly that she behaved wrongly. Wrongly enough that they fired her (and as simon points out, she was lippy to her boss, after the fact). She won't get her job back; she loses. Walmart, love it or hate it, carries on unscathed by this, while the girl is now looking for work. The dog is still alive, too.
I wouldnt say Wal-Mart is unscathed there are facebook hate groups popping up everywhere, in every country . Petitions being signed, and alot of anger towards Wal-Mart.

Hatred of Walmart, for many many reasons, is nothing new. They fire people all the time for what many feel are controversial reasons. They even got away with closing an entire store in Quebec because that one store unionized. They force small businesses out of work, they kill small town main streets, they buy cheap shit from Chinese factories with appalling working conditions. Yet we keep shopping there, their earnings keep rising, they keep opening new stores. And, this chick is no longer employed by them, because she didn't abide by their rules and she beaked off to her boss. Time to buy Walmart stock.

This is the same sort of logic as firing employees who follow robbers down the street telling the police via cell phone where they are going.
Is it? The robbers have harmed the corporation by stealing from it.
How did the jerky man who left the dog in the car harm Walmart?
