Drake ruined the Raptors’ pitch. Guaranteed.
We never had a chance to sign him long term. He always wanted to go home. The spurs traded him to the raps because it was the farthest thing from LA. Pop wasn’t going to give in and trade him to the team he wanted to go to. He left 50 million on the table and a chance to repeat just to be able to play in LA. He chose the wrong LA team. He made them trade away their future for another star that’s often injured.

He helped us when the title but people need to remember he came to the top team in the east that had a deep roster and never made the finals because of Lebron. Without him the raps went 17-5 and we beat Golden State with kd or Klay.

The grass is not greener on the other side. He signed with the wrong LA team. The clippers have been one of the worst teams since they joined the league.

Reportedly Kawhi was offering to stay if Toronto could get Russell Westbrook AND Paul George but OKC wanted Pascal Siakam in return and the Raptors wouldn't give him up. That and the salary hit would be huge.

I want to know more about this... Kawhi, Paul George, and Westbrook? Toronto could have had multiple championships. Instead we're betting on Pascal...

I'm happy this story is over, media was breaking balls all day with it. Not his fault, but every day in and out you had to hear about it.

Kawhi was always going to the Clippers. Westbrook was just a roadblock to stop the trade and redirect Paul George to LA.

Once The Thunder knew PG's true value, the trade with the Clippers was complete.

I'm pretty sure Danny Green was part of that 17-5 run.

LA Clippers are improving. They gave Golden State mini fits in the playoff with the squad that's now adding PG13 and the Klaw. He joined the right team from his perspective. It seems he doesn't want to play with, and play second fiddle to, Lebron.

Westbrook (some say Westbrick) is such a ball hog. I'm not sure if he would have been a good idea.

Too bad for us however it is great for him.

Toronto doesn’t know how to act towards famous people like that. The whole city stops, they have helicopters following him, he would be like a king of the north prisoner with no privacy.

In LA there are tons of famous people that he can blend in and live a fairly regular life and maintain some level of enjoyment to mingle with the regulars.

Toronto did this!

He helped creat history here and there is no hard feelings. He is still the champion here and well respected. This decision is what is best for him in the big picture.
BS..... lebron got similar treatment....its hockey but the press camoed out at Canadiens front yards.

1) He was here for a good time, not a long time. Maybe best he leaves while on top.

2) The suits in Clippers management will make sure he will more than make up the $52mm in endorsements.

3) Guys, we still have Auston Mathews to lead us to the promise land.

I’m assuming OKC was asking for more than just Pascal in exchange for George and Westbrook. The Clippers have traded away their first round draft picks for the next 4 years as part of this deal.

Not sure how that will benefit as they will most likely be low picks?

1. Did ujuri like being told by Leonard who he wanted to play with? Leonard was basically overhauling the Raptors to his liking from the looks of it?

2. Who the hell would want Russell Westbrook and his attitude?

3. Ujuri is positioning himself as a goodwill ambassador, does he want to be known as a ruthless gunslinger who will sell anybody. I think siakom is his pride and joy, and untouchable imo.

I wish Kawhi had stayed...but to be brutally honest, how do we know what Kawhi’s health will be like over the course of next season...and the season after that...etc. Kawhi had to miss 22 games this year due to his load management program and he was still limping at times during the play offs.

We may have seen Kawhi at his best over this past season.

You are probably right about the draft picks. The Clippers are already a young team and probably won’t need the picks anyway.

Toronto, on the other hand, have Lowry and Gasol coming to the end of their contracts next year...and both are getting older too. The Raps could be looking at a full re-build next year and may need their picks.

Aside from Lowry and Gasol, I don't think anyone else is in their 30s. Well, Ibaka is about 29 I think.
