not in my opinion.
staal still somewhat overrated.
we could build a solid defense around the likes of kaberle and staal.

that being said, we will need to give up something good to get something good - and kaberle would definitely qualify.

this deal, however, does not make sense to me...

besides, staal will be a rfa - could still be signed

I would make it also in a heartbeat. Ten years younger with way more upside and Kabby needs a change of scenery ( ie. McCabe, Tucker, )

If Shero offered up Staal, I would have Kaberle gone in a heartbeat.

I like Tomas...but he has peaked. Everyone pretty much knows Staal has the possible ability to be a star....

But the leafs will never get a jordan staal for just kaberle

Probably not, but you never know. I still can't believe that the Flyers were willing to trade Jeff Carter and a first round pick for Kaberle last season.

If what all the "experts" and former hockey guys like Doug Maclean are telling us is true about the high value put on "puck-moving defencemen", then getting something significant for Kaberle come the trade deadline could be a possibility. Given how Kaberle's defensive liabilities are being exposed each and every game, one would think that his trade value has decreased.

let's not forget Jordan Staal is only 1 year older than Luke Schenn and is almost reaching 100 career points already which is only approx 20 pts less than same age Patrick Kane. Patrick Kane is #1 starting line and on the #1 PP... Staal sees limited PP and is a 3rd line center because of the depth of the Penguins down the middle.
