If this call girl really defrauded the poor chap I am with the Jury on this one. I just feel sorry for the poor guy down $800,000 for love. Oh well I guess its a learning curve for everybody who indulges more than the business trade.
Well, if he had $800,000 to lose, then he may have been rich.

well according to previous news story he had remortgaged his house, borrowed money from friends and from other sources. Oh well, rich or poor deception should not be tolerated or the society as a whole will suffer.

My 2 cents.

How this guy never figured out he was being taken is beyond me. True she is guilty of fraud but it should have never have gotten this far.

It is a tough one. Sure she lied to the guy but he has to be somewhat accountable. I guess she'll be looking at between 2 and 4 years. I doubt he'll ever see a cent of that money though, especially if it is in Jamaica.

One article I read said that Darquise said that Johnson lost that entire amount in a couple of years. That's why she came back to Canada, better to live in prison in Canada than having chickens clucking through your dirt floors in Jamaica.

Such a sad situation :(

Wow, never seen her myself but lots of really positive reviews from reliable posters. Wonder what kind of sentence she will get.

All I can think of is that the guy needed to be loved and didn't want to believe the obvious. It was a pretty dispicable act on her part to bleed this guy dry like that. Manipulating him and basically destroying the guy emotionally and financially. They guy has problems that the majority of us can't even imagine.

It was preying on the weak.

I'm sure this case is now set as a precedent for those who will make future attempts to con someone through a romance type scam. They made an example out of her and rightfully so. He was and still is a good person who did not deserve this regardless of whether or not he let it get out of hand. People like her rely on those who are too embarassed to go to the authorities and thankfully he went and did the right thing. I know of many people who used to rave about her here and she could have attempted this scam on any one of those clients of hers even if it wasn't to the tune of 800 K.

All good points for sure boils down to a really sad situation. You are right by saying that it would set a good precendent for future attempts of scams. Poor guy that he had to learn this way :( And you are right by saying good for him for having the courage to come forward. That says a lot in itself.

This is crazy... My ex lied and cheated me for the last few years of our marriage. Could I sue her and win... Not a chance in hell. I wonder if this guy wasn't disabled if the outcome would have been the same.

I'm sorry you had a rough time with your ex - yes, I agree the justice system is heavily and unfairly biased.
I don't think you should try to equate your bitterness at the outcome of your marriage to this case (or any other similar case). Trust me - more than a few guys would be doing the same thing here.

Doug Macklem was a victim of an elorabate financial scam - the players were not married, therefore she can't claim to be enrolled in his asset pool. IMO ...The lady player is a psychopath - pure and simple. The husband in Jamaica - an uncaring cocksucker; a product of poverty maybe. She is definitely a flight risk and should be jailed.
