Your place!!
So is it time to move Josh Towers somewhere? If he had won 3 games the Jays would be tied for First place now, 4, in 1st by themselves. Should they move him to the Pen or the minors to get some confidence or is he Done?
I think the minors for a stint would be in order.

In the immortal words of Shakespeare: "Get thee to a nunnery".... this is good advice...... maybe towers can strikeout some nuns......

I cannot believe that they have let him flounder so long.... I would like to think that he can turn things around, but his confidence must be shot....

He needs a stint in AA.....

AA or even A Dunedin....that is a vary instructional setting, and I think he needs to scrap his delivery and start again.......they could work with it there.

A few starts at AA, couple more in AAA, then back in the bigs.....

I think someone on this board mentioned that if Towers is assigned to the minors he'd have to clear waivers and if someone picked him up the Jays still have to pay his contract for the season.

I agree Towers has looked shaky and he needs some work. However, he wasn't all that bad against the A's and I was surprised he was pulled after the 4th.

Lets all remember he's the 5th guy in the rotation. If he can win 10 games for the team what more can you ask from the 5th guy in the rotation? Yeah, he 0-7, but the season is still early. If the Jays can't assign him to the minors then I think they need to give him a couple more starts before deciding to move him.

He may be the 5th best, but he's pitching in the #2 spot until Burnett returns (if Burnett returns?). Which means that at the moment we have a near certain W from Doc every five days, followed by a certain L from Josh and so the Jays can never string a few together and get some momentum going.

I hope Ricardi is out looking for another arm, and not just a 5th starter, someone decent.

The Marlins' salary dump has yet to include Dontrelle Willis because his contract (by baseball standards) isn't too bad ($4.35 million). There were rumblings of the Mets and Marlins talking trade with him, so it would seem he could be had at the right price. If the Jays' system is as stocked as they claim, they should take a run at him.

aaahhhhhhh yes

good old Tony Fernandez (probably the best SS ever in Toronto) the man was poetry in motion he was gracefull and accurate he was a good hitter to and the best memories I have of him is whenever he was about to get hit by the ball while batting he will yell BEFORE he actually got hit.....good ol days

When I read about this a month ago, I nearly wet my pants that Florida was looking to trade him. Despite his pitching performance today (May 11th) I'd deal for him in a heartbeat and send some of our stacked farm system down to south Florida!

Back on subject: I think they should send Josh right down to single A like they did with the Doc when he struggled like this. Sh*t, when he came back he won a Cy Young! The reason they don't is that there really isn't anyone to put in his place. He's basically hanging around until AJ "feels" up to pitching again. Downs and McGowan have proven that they can't start in Josh's place so we're stuck with him. All he needs is that first win.

Which part of his delivery? What I mean is there is so much wrong with it, and he does need to scrap it and start all over. From when he picks up the sign from the catcher, all the way to his fielding position. :(

He's too herky jerky and bouncy. Sure you get some tailing action with cut and sink, but you also have moon shots launched unless you change speeds well, or throw hard. Towers does neither of these things. He does remind me of a young Scott Erickson without the velocity and/or the success. It does not look to get any better in the near future for Towers.

Well, well, well. He finally got a win. Did it in style as well as nearly a complete game.

Jays' just one game behind largely due to terrific batting by the 'old guard', no doubt fired up by all that new power. Red Sox and Yankees have got to be worried.

All they need now is some luck with Chacin's arm and return of a healthy A.J. :D

if he can manage a game like that against a team other than the Devil Rays I will be the first to jump up and down. BUT until i see a couple more W next to those 7 L......I will keep holding my breath everytime he goes out there

he pitched a great game yesterday but u have to shake your head at the home run he gave to Julio Lugo (his first of the season) I did like the fact that he threw under 90 pitches.....again he looked good but can he win back to back games???
