I believe the third dish are empanadas served on a bed of polenta...I could be wrong. The 3rd dish looks like some kind of samosa but I have no idea what the puree on the bottom is. Usually samosas are served with a tamarind sauce or a chutney.
Yes I remember now it was the empenadas! ThanksI believe the third dish are empanadas served on a bed of polenta...I could be wrong.
I love a good steak. There is nothing wrong in staying within the limit of what you like as well. I just feel like food is such a good way to know someone without talking and to just share something that makes most happy. I feel like I know you a little already.I enjoy reading and seeing pics of those various dishes you guys enjoy eating. I commend your taste! My palate is probably very boring for you, since I have no desire to sample many, if not all, of the items you are posting about. I'm afraid I am basically a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Maybe not always potatoes, but yes, always steak. I have eaten steak all over in my travels. From Kobi steak to buffalo to prime rib. To me, a place that provides me with a steak that I enjoy is a place that I remember along with the service. Sitting down (even alone) to a properly cooked and seasoned steak is like a wet dream. One place after the meal, offered incredible Colombian coffee and a waiter came by offering a Cuban cigar to enjoy with the coffee. Ah, nirvana! !
I am sure I would enjoy your company at any of the places you mentioned, especially if they offered steak as well. I would also be open to taste samples ..... if you offered.
Thanks for the suggestions Josephine! My third post is more a neighborhood that a restaurant in itself, but it's such a fun experience!
My 3rd discovery goes to the Kensington Market in Toronto.
Wether you are with friends or families, walking through Kensington is a whole mood. We generally pick up something in every shop and we share everything together at the park. This is also something I did with @KittyCaterina once (the time you were befriending the pigeons lol)!
So where to go? I have not yet sample everything so this is post 1 of 2.
Ps: This is a great date idea for an extended date (wink)

4. Gus Tacos
There are a lot of competition in the tacos department in the market, but you go at Gus for the horchata. I think all the restaurants along Augusta makes great tacos!

Café Boulud has it sometimes. I saw it recently. Best is to order the kit from Amazon and ask for your butcher to prep the meat for you. I only saw a few pack in the frozen section of Loblaws a few time but that is it!I wonder if there is a restaurant that serves "une fondue chinoise"? Or even a grocery store that sells it.
One the few things I miss from home.
Tango Nuevo opened a new restaurant. It's hard to get in tho.Great thread @Josephine! Looks like you have similar tastes to me.
I love the cooking school restaurant concept. I’ve been to one before and had an incredibly enjoyable meal for a fraction what it would have cost elsewhere, and the energy of the students working there was amazing.
Also have been to Tango Nuevo. You can get lost in the dark and cozy environment there. A simple lunch a couple years ago with a female friend one cold winters day a few years ago, led to an afternoon of eating and drinking that ended about 7pm. We just kept ordering “just one more plate” and (and just one more wine/ cocktail etc). Alas, that was the end of it… almost was more. A great memory.
And I have such fond memories of Kensington as a student in Toronto. I was there so often to shop and eat it was like a second home almost. Loved the eclectic vibe, and great quality produce/ meat/ fish at bargain prices. Not sure much is a bargain anymore, but I have visited again a couple years ago and still loved the place.
If you like patties, try Crumbs Gourmet Patties, on Kensington. I think they are open only Thursday to Sunday. But in my opinion, after Randy's closed down, this is the best patty spot. Try their "remixed" patties. Amazing. My third post is more a neighborhood that a restaurant in itself, but it's such a fun experience!
