I've been watching this and parts of it are actually quite funny. I have no doubt there will be SNL skits of this on Sat night. Just watching a question be passed along to each panel member and hearing them say "I dunno", "Can you repeat the question", "I can't answer that" or seeing the legal counsel jump in. After a while it gets pretty funny.

But in all honesty, Jose may be a slimy weasel but he came across, IMO, as the most credible and honest person on the panel. Probably b/c he's got nothing to lose and it shows.

Well, maybe, but if he's got nothing to lose, exactly why do you suppose he asked for immunity?

The old guy cracked me up when he said the hearing turned into a 'Theatre of the Absurd'.
This whole thing is a facade, especially Sosa

Really, I don't know what is worse. A slimy weasel that admits Major Leage Baseball can't handle the problem, or a bunch of "loyal" baseball players who won't.

I say let the players take juice if they so choose.
We have people that smoke, drink, take drugs etc, so why not just let the players do as they wish.
It's their bodies so why not??

Also how come there is no hearing into the NFL steroid problem????
I guarantee you that there isnt one guy on any given NFL roster who isnt popping pills and taking shots.

What a great post........and same to you escohort!! Totally true to both of you.......everyone takes something of some form. The problem I have is that Canseco ratted everyone out, if he wanted to admit to the public that he took steroid during his carreer than that's fine, but to rat on people, so that he can put more cash in pockets, is a shit head thing to do.......

Hey Hook, I said exactly the same in the Canseco thread in the sports forum.
I respect him for admitting the juice but then to rat everybody out is so lame.

I think he'll regret this as he gets older.
Baseball is a pretty tight fraternity and he'll be blacklisted everywhere he goes.

How about a Congress that can't do anything right thinking they're going to fix this problem?
Who says Congress can't do anything right? That's your perception, not mine.

100% blacklisted, he pretty much had done that 4 years ago when he wanted to make his return to the majors and no one wanted him, no one wanted to play with him and he ended up doing a stint in the minors....It's sad to see a dominate player for soooo many years go from the top to the very bottom. In this case, he is 100% where he belongs. Anyone takes a fall and takes everyone around him down is a piece of shit.....I'm totally with ya on this escohort!!

Backlisted from what? He's RETIRED!! Life goes on. He has to find other ways to make income. And his lack to do that is more a reflection of his mental capacity then outting someone in something he longer participates in.

He's been blacklisted for a while now. So he truly has nothing to lose. And those are the types of people that others fear most. Including baseball players.

Black listed from gatherings, social events and anything else to do with baseball!! We all know he's retired, but what escohort I believe was saying that he won't be talked about highly nor invited to anything to do with baseball..........he won't be remembered as a big power hitter for the Oakland A's, but only as a slimmy rat!! I do however like your statement on outting others in something he no longer participates in........(great statement)

Big deal. As I said life goes on. I don't think he cares much about rubbing shoulders with baseball irrespective of his revelations.

Yep. In baseball more than any other sport, players who reveal what goes on off the field are reviled and despised. When Jim Bouton wrote "Ball Four", the entire baseball establishment attacked him, especially former players, for showing them to be the boozing, womanizing, sometimes rascist, jerks that they were. Thirty-five years later and the Yankees still won't have anything to do with him. Canseco has done him one better. Accusing particular players of steroid use goes to the heart of what they accomplished on the field. Blacklisted? If I were Jose I'd consider getting my butt out of the country as soon as possible.

Just to save some time, I'll write up the Senate Committee's report right now:

Jose Canseco could really hit a baseball. He couldn't catch a goddamn thing in the field. Jose Canseco was on the juice. Even with the juice, Jose couldn't keep it going forever, so he's now out of baseball. Lots of other players use the juice. Lots of people love baseball. Most people don't care if baseball players use the juice. These hearings are sure a lot more fun than the usual work I have to do here in Washington!

Hearings adjourned! Time to get back to chasing interns!
