im not a Canadian but isnt it true that Kennedy had a frosty relationship with some Canadians particularly Lester Pearson over Cuba and especially vietnham, also was instrumental in opposing the progress of the avro arrow project. Canadians never really got behind the whole camelot facade

The arrow was cancelled by Diefenfool whilst Ike was president, so no, Kennedy had nothing to do with that.

Pearson and Johnson didn't get along over Vietnam. I heard once that Johnson (6'-3") grabbed Pearson (little guy and noble peace prize winner) buy the suit lapels and actually lifted him off the floor against a wall. I don't know if this is true or not though.

Carter and Trudeau got along.

Chretien and Clinton supposedly are still good friends to this day and even met up for a round of golf in the summer.

It would be a far better world if more politicians spent more time pounding the flesh rather than pressing it. Every minute Clinton spent banging Monica Lewinski he wasn't screwing the rest of us or the world. Every time she knelt before that mighty cigar - she was a heroine.

Because - unlike most Americans - she could take everything a politician could put out - and swallow it!

Result - the greatest economic expansion ever - a massive decline in the murder rate - the biggest corporate party that anyone has ever attended - and something close to world peace was achieved.

Monica Lewinski deserves a frigging medal for all that.

After she stopped seeing the president, this country started going to hell.

It's a well known fact that these two leaders have good relations to this day. As far as the Nixon comment...look where it was coming from! UGH!

It was my understanding that the comment was usually followed by words to effect that - Trudeau was clever

BTW was it one of Nixon's cabinet that called Trudeau a pinko commie? I don't remember who but I do remember his comment to a reporter who asked Trudeau what he thought about it. Trudeau replied that he wasn't concered about what a third rate pip squeak thought

For some reason, Trudeau's classic response to Nixon's "asshole" comment is not as well-known. When told that Nixon had called him an asshole, Trudeau replied, "I've been called worse things by better people".

Kennedy was killed because he was opposed to sending troops to vietnam and the Bay of pigs conflict.
The avro project was ordered to cease by the american goverment. After all Canada is a state of the United States.
