not a bad backup to have around....

means Clemmenson will stay down in the minors and pogge will again get to learn in the AHL (exactly where he belongs at this point!)

clemmenson is gone - contract expired and they have said he will not resign. as for the cujo comment - how reliable is your source - from what I've heard cujo has not given up trying to be a starter in the league again. if thats the case toronto does not make sense right now

I thought the Leafs were on a youth movement. IMHO, it doesn't make sense to bring back cujo even as a back-up:confused: .

A backup goalie is not a position where youth is required. It's a stop gap position. Toskala's not old and they have Pogge as their intended long range goalie.

Howard Berger usually has Leaf scoops ..

Berger Writes on that blogsite... but usually I take everything this EKLUND character writes with a grain of salt...

he does have a few 'respected' people writing on his site however.

I don't think this is such a bad idea.

Cujo could still be effective in a back-up roll, and could provide some mentoring to Toskala. He won't be looking for a significant amount of playing time.

Cujo has stated that he would like to retire as a Leaf. He is probably willing to give what sports writers call "the home town discount", just so he could play here. So that saves some money for the cap.

As for the youth movement, you still need some veterans to provide some stability to the dressing room.

Well said. I'll cosign that.

It's the in thing to do in TO sports teams: bring back Fletcher, bring back Cito, bring back Cujo. Who's next? Damon Stoudamire for the Raptors as a backup

Devon White in Centre Field for the Jays.

I seem to remember that Cujo did alright in Calgary last year... I am still a fan of Cujo's, and wish him well, but I had expected Clemensen to get his shot.

I guess it does make some sense. Cujo still can get it done, and he no longer expects to play 60 games/year... He can hopefully be a good influence on the younger guys..

The oldest of the old in Toronto sport scene, Paul Godfrey.

So far he did wonderful thing as president he delivered Blue Jays and SkyDome, paid by the taxpayers, to Rogers for a song.

He should be the executive of the century.

Joseph will be good for Leaf fans. A decent back up to Toskala (one of the top 10 goalies for the league in my opinion) and Leaf fans will be able to have happy feelings every time he plays maybe 15 times probably all at home. It going to be rough for Leaf fans next year and Joseph should bring some needed nostalgia.

I was a fan of Cujo when he wore the Blue and White. But the buyout of Raycroft combined with Cujo's return - albeit a speculation at this time - makes no sense to me.

Raycroft might not be a starting goalie but he is a competent backup, IMHO, particularly for a non-contender, which the Leafs are going to be for the next couple of years, if not longer. Bringing Cujo in might help to win a couple more games - a meaningless achievement, at bets.

Fletcher is beginning to show traits of "change in the name of change" without demonstrating a clear, viable, plan of rebuilding the Leafs for the better. I hope he is not making his decisions under the "toxic" influence of Peddie, for the sake of media and boardroom politics.

You may be forgetting that they'll probably save between 1.5 and 2 million bucks without really changing the overall success of the team.

We are talking about Vesa Toskala who plays in the NHL right? For some reason I find that really surprising. I thought he was decent last year, and I would have put him in the 2nd tier of goalies.. Thinking about it, you might even be right about him being in the top 10.
