Apparently not too many Doors fans on TERB, but hey. He sure could help you and yours get you groove on.

Yes, his music would have done well even today, a unique masterpiece that will last in time.

I'd like to go back in a time machine to San Francisco club scene around 1966/67 or so and catch a Doors show. The drugs were unbelievable, music was innovative / magical / mystical and the street vibe amazing.

I've always loved the sound of Morrison's voice. I like it that he's sleazy too. The great rock singers of all time are almost always sleazy and Morrison looks super sleazy with that signature oversize belt.

And that killer charisma. Most of today's vacuous singers tend to be manufactured and packaged and are'nt true artists who paid their dues in grungy dives for years.

On a side note the list of great musicians dead at 27 is pretty substancial.
Robert Johnson, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain.

Add in Gram Parsons.

after Oscar Wilde, he has the 2nd most popular grave at the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. I ended up taking two separate groups of Morrison's fans to it although his tombstone is pretty generic (vs the art deco gravestone of Wilde).

Gram was several weeks shy of 27. (November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973)

He was a little impatient I guess.
I'd checked it just before I posted and hoped no one would notice.

Morrison definitely had an amazing voice and was truly one of the greatest American musicians of all time. As far as I am aware, he never sold out and was true to his art.

Sad that he died so young though.

BTW, Val Kilmer played him in the movie "The Doors" by Oliver Stone and he (Kilmer) was given a chance to try on the famous Morrison leather pants. Apparently Kilmer could only step into them as Morrison was phyically quite a small guy.

Anyone else been to his grave site in Paris? I paid a visit back in 1991 and can't believe that was 20 years ago. I'm 41 years old right now and can't believe where all the time went. :frown:

Yep! I went a few years ago. It's an interesting cemetery - Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Chopin, Edith Piaf, etc.

Jimmy's not dead.
I saw him with a huge full beard that was dyed red in a cafe in Paris France a few years ago.
Anyone been to Prague? There was a guy in the main square there who pulled a toy truck around full of drugs. I still think it was Jim Morrison. Do you know that no one has ever seen his dead body? The doctor that pronounced him dead later lost his license for some sort of scams.....and Morrison often talked about faking his own death.....

Some say that Jim Morrison died too young for how reckless he lived.

However, I think he was an icon and their music is great/unique. Even Jose Feliciano thinks so (Light My Fire).

Went to high school with Robby Kreiger's first cousin who was a friend of mine. I used to correspond with Kreiger.
