Ukraine got old ammo from certain NATO nations and nothing close to what they actually needed to decisively beat back Russia.
Even with that Russia got decimated.
Whatever the negotiated peace, and whatever Ukraine agrees to there has to be security guarantees in order for Ukraine to agree to it.
Otherwise there will be no peace.

Dude, thats because NATO didn't have it. NATO has a very different military doctrine. In the entire Iraq war the USA used 60K artillery shells. There were some days where Russia was using 40K a day!!! NATO and the US MIC does not like artillery because its too cheap. No money to be made selling ammo. Ukraine cannot adopt NATO doctrine fully because its based on airpower. It takes DECADES and kajillions to build it. It is also why Russia has the most advanced air defense systems on the planet, to defend against NATO. So since NATO cannot supply Ukraine to fight an artillery war, and Ukraine is unable to operate a tier 1 air force, its GAME OVER. They are now like the Germans after the Luftwaffe was wiped out. Out in the open, no where to hide with the Russians able to rain artillery, bombs, missiles and drones on them at will and observe any movement from drones and satellites. Ukraine can have some successes with drones, but Russia can double or triple that, and more anti drone systems are being deployed constantly by Russia. Like I said, tell me how ANY GOOD can come from continuing.

Then they started acquiring duds from N.Korea.

Russia was exposed as being weak in this war, and more military aid to Ukraine, with state of the art planes and missiles would have finished Russia.

3m shells a year that is 8200 a day, which can easily result in 40K a day during a major battle. Russia has about 5000 heavy artillery pieces, so at most 2000 to 3K are in the Ukraine war, so you can see quite easily how at even 2 rounds/min you can reach 40K in a surge. At the start of the war they had 16m shells stockpiled from Soviet days. Russia has a mutual defense treaty with NK, so it makes perfect sense that NK will test its ammo in Ukraine.
