The Canadian by Via Rail that runs from Toronto to Vancouver won't stop in Jasper. It will stop in Edmonton. The Vancouver to Toronto route is canceled.

About 30 percent of the town was burned down. Jasper park lodge was affected but main structure are up. Maligne lodge was burn to the ground.

The home that welcomed me on my second stay there is down, along with much of the neighborhood :(

Could this be prevented? I'm not sure honestly.

Naheed Nenshi can't be leader, he's NDP.

President Smith did ask the Feds for assistance. Since she's willing to steal from the CPP to fund the Tar Sands, she should deal with the wildfires herself.

Btw the CPP now has assets $600+ billions, it's closing the gap with Norway.

The Fire department said it could have been prevented if Smith didn't make cuts. Now the transport of goods from the Port Of Vancouver is stuck, and the freight trains cannot get through that corridor. This is costing the Canadian economy.

I have spent many years in the rockies. It’s all pine trees. Those propagate fire so easily. Usually long winter and rain prevent that. But it may not be the case anymore. seeing how many fires are still raging… Other towns will eventually be affected.

Just like california. Everything is so dry there no way to prevent fires. People need to stop listening to stupid politicians and listen to scientists.

It’s the equivalent to hurricane in florida. They get a bit more of them every year.

At one point all insurers will pull out.

For sure, home insurance rates are skyrocketing in Florida, my cousins own property in Florida they bought during the 2008 financial crisis at a crazy low price but now they are paying insurance that cost as much as the house they bought. Floridians enjoyed many tax breaks but there's always a caveat.

my 83 year old uncle is without an insurance on his house in Florida. he can't afford it. Most insurer pulled out of his neighborhoods.

The same happens in California. Other places will follow. canada won't be left out.

We need to stop building out of wood i guess.
