heard this at the bar tonight... for a 3rd round pick.

quickly looking at things. WOW.

Jamal Mayers over the past 4 seasons: -19, -19, -22, -19.

33 years old. he can hit people hard and skates well.

Third line winger. probably a replacement for Chad Kilger. definitely not an upgrade.

There goes one of the leafs 4 top 70 picks.

though, his salary is nice and low and he came at a low cost. a 3rd rounder is a 5 year AHLer at best.

He was definitely brought in for some toughness. I would have preferred someone younger but his salary is low and he plays hard. Kilger was a headcase and needed to be traded and I think everyone know why by now.

Let's see what happens today during the draft. Hopefully, they will not give up any more draft picks.

He was good enough to make the World Championship team the last 2 years, more than any Leaf did, definitely an upgrade over Kilger.

What was the deal with Kilger anyway? What kind of problems did he have? Did he ever report to Florida?

Mayers is a much better than the physiotherapist fucker Kilger. He is a Toronto guy, and deserves a chance...

But, like you, I wonder why we trade a draft choice for a 33 year old guy....

Yeah, as a Toronto boy he'll come to the rink and bust his ass on every shift, not like some of the floaters Toronto currently employ. Also, coming cheap will only give him more incentive to play hard.

Sorta like Jason Allison, Larry Murphy, Eric Lindros, and Jeff O'Neill?

He is big and loves to hit and that seemed to be the type of players the Leafs drafted this year ... Ummmm looks like a Brian Burke team .... Who's team's table was right behind the Leafs .... The Ducks ...

Jimmy Hayes

Hayes has a big body, works hard and plays very well in a team concept. With his size, you expect Hayes to be a punishing power forward. While he's not going to shy away from the tough stuff, he is really known for his hands and work around the net. He is a big, strong, forward who is learning to use his power as he continues to grow into his frame. He is also noted as fast skater with very big and long strides.
It's funny on youtube video of the Leafs when they were drafting Schenn, Burke is standing right behind Fletcher when they are making their pick and both he and Fletcher are on the phone. Coincidence? :)

Anyone know if Kilger intends to report to Florida for camp this fall? or does he want to throw a $500,000/yr job as well as his family away for a piece of ass?
