He does get bad press. Don't see anything "weird" about going to look at Air Force 2. So he wants it to be his plane next year, why is that "stalking". There is more than enough weird about the guy without having to bend over backwards...
Ahem, hate to be the grammar police, but the clear distinction between "in drag" and "trans photos" needs to be pointed out. It's not like blackface...
I believe that he truly wants to transition, but he is afraid that his Silicon Valley plutocrat backers will abduct and kill him if he publicly admits it.

The stalking is that they came up with the strategy of following Harris and Walz around.
Is it entirely fair to call it "stalking"? Probably not, but this is a campaign.
He got defined by the opposition ("weird") and has had all kinds of trouble shaking it because it fits pretty well.
Could the press try to nip it in the bud by refusing to ever talk about it? Maybe. But they can't fight social media entirely.
That's why we are going to get lots of stories about how it is "unfair" that he is being called weird.
It's the way to pretend to be neutral while helping Vance and Trump out.
