The research show any phone use is distracting, if the law's to prevent accident ban all cell use. Now that would be popular wouldn't it?
No, it would not be popular. But nor was giving women the vote, but that law was right and people got on board. I do see your point, that if the law is to prevent cell phone use in cars leading to accidents then why not cut even hands-free. But I think alot of people see that one always has to start somewhere. Risk cannot be eliminated entirely, of course, so laws always have to balance eliminating risk or suplying protection as best as possible, with allowing for freedom of action. It's a balancing act and some laws pull off better balances than others. I think moving to hands-free phone use is a damn good start.
