Thread worthy of course. The Stones are the third greatest band in rocknroll, they mined the Delta Blues to perfection. But, except for The Beatles, they take a backseat to the children of Rosemary's Baby. Roman Polanski, horrible human being that he may be, his influence on rock cannot be discounted.

Considering what they begat, let's show some love for The Yardbirds. A rare occurrence, Aerosmith paid Jimmy Page royalties.

For years Howard Stern tried to get Neil Young or David Bowie to come in for an interview. He would shit his pants like Wendy The Slow Adult at the mere mention of them. He was successful with one of them. Neil Young would have taken longer to achieve fame without these guys.

One of the most under-rated bands of The British Invasion.

Beggar's Banquet was the first successful Stones stand alone LP. Hard to believe, isn't it.

Keith, in one of his many "pure rock and roll" moments.

Here's their second #1 hit from November 1964, it's rare for such a pure blues tune to be so successful.

From Wikipedia..............

The Rolling Stones were among the first British rock groups to record modern electric blues songs. In 1964, they recorded "Little Red Rooster" with original member Brian Jones, a key player in the recording. Their rendition, which remains closer to the original arrangement than Cooke's, became a number one record in the UK and continues to be the only blues song to reach the top of the British chart.

Bill Ward said he is no longer fit enough to tour. He was awesome in his day.

Black Sabbath was a tight band on stage. Despite the amount of carousing these guys were doing, the shows were fucking awesome.

In this clip Iommi doesn't have his 'stache - He looks like Mike Brady.

I have one of Wards solo albums, "Along the Way". Picked it up at Sam the Record man back in the day. Ozzy is on a couple of the tracks. Not a bad LP.
